The Notting Hill Carnival Roadshow Company is once again making its way to the Seychelles to participate in the Carnaval International de Victoria. The third edition of the carnival will run alongside carnivals all over the world taking place from the 8th till the 10th February.
The Notting Hill Carnival Roadshow will join the annual Seychelles Carnival in a weekend of celebrations and festivities. As well as performing, the cast of the company will teach their unique skills to the local people on the island of Mahe.
The cast will teach young people in Seychelles' capital Victoria about the origins of carnival and will demonstrate the evolution of dance and performance at carnivals around the world. Young people will be invited to participate in the island's carnival events and those taking part will be taught how to show off their talents. The Notting Hill Carnival Roadshow aims to give young people the inspiration they need to carry on the legacy and turn the Carnaval International de Victoria into a world famous event.
Chairperson of the Notting Hill Carnival Roadshow, Claire Holder said: “We are so excited to be coming once again to Seychelles where we are made to feel most welcome. This year we hope to do more to engage with the people of Seychelles and the region to contribute to what has become a truly fantastic and remarkable experience and celebration of the beauty of Seychelles and its people.”
The company aims to get together three masquerade groups, one samba group, one steel band and one DJ to ensure that the carniva is a success 40 individual performers will also take part in the Carnaval International de Victoria, showcasing talents from around the world.
