Cruise News: Queen Mary 2 Marks 175th Anniversary

The Queen Mary II is possibly one of the most famous ships in existence today, so it's no wonder that there was a big song and dance made over such an incredible achievement. It's latest voyage is the inspiration behind our first 'Cruise News'.

Queen Mary II

The famous Queen Mary II made it's final transatlantic crossing yesterday, drawing the curtains closed on a well-celebrated flagship of the Cunard line. Christened by the Queen in 2004, the ship was celebrated with a firework show in Liverpool, before it departed on the way to New York.

The ship proceeded to carry 400 passengers, over a shorter amount of time than usual, across the Atlantic to Haliax, Canada before eventually arriving in New York after a stop in Boston. This route mimicked it's route back in 1840.

New Yorkers were arguably treated to the greatest spectacle, with an entrancing light show being performed just off shore. Illuminating the night sky, the QM II stood proudly to mark it's finale on the 175th anniversary of it's maiden voyage. The show made for a spectacular sight, with colourful streams stretching out into the night somehow making the New York skyline even more stunning than usual.

Carnival Vista Launched

Carnival Vista

Carnival have launched their new ship, Vista, a supremely fun-looking vessel idea for families. The ship plays host to a strong variety of pit stops for you to take whilst on cruise. Starting with an attractive looking activity area, kids and immature adults will love the on-board water park with it's kaleidoscopic slide. Better still it's mini-golf course is perfect for family fun. Enjoy a whole range of different bars and restaurants to keep things fresh for lunch and dinner. The tides pool is ideal for sunbathing with the family, or enjoy some privacy at the adults-only, serenity retreat and make use of the kids club.

It certainly looks like it has plenty to offer, especially when you consider it has the first at-sea IMAX cinema...

Royal Caribbean

The Anthem of the Seas is the latest ship to arrive from Royal Caribbean having just been unveiled. The second of their Quantum Class of ships, the line boasts some of the best dining and entertainment offerings on the ocean and is kitted out in some of the latest technology available. Venturing across the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, this new line will see Barcelona, St Kitts and a whole host of other destinations.
