Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Quito to Coca to Yasuni National Park

Your tour begins in Quito, the capital city of Ecuador, from where you take a morning flight to Coca. On arrival you are taken to the Napo River port for a two hour speedboat ride downstream to pick up the Manatee Amazon Explorer. Once on board you will begin navigating down the Napo River and later taking a canoe excursion to explore the Tiputini River inside the Yasuni National Park. At dusk enjoy a memorable night walk to visit a native dwelling.

Day 2: Kichwa Culture and swamp forest hike

Begin today with a visit to one of the local indigenous community centres and one of the Kichwa schools. You will meet the local people and learn all about their culture. Talk to the children and visit their native huts to find out how the cope with life in the rain forest. In the afternoon relax on board the Manatee Explorer and have a lesson on Ecuadorian food and cooking from the ship's chef. There will also be lectures given by a naturalist and a walk through the Morete swamp seeing frogs and parrots.

Day 3: Kichwa Culture and swamp forest hike

After breakfast on board you will be taken on an excursion to Parrot Clay licks, which is a great place to spot lots of species of birds, or to the Yaku Kawsay underwater museum. After returning to the ship for lunch there will be a visit to the Limoncocha Biological Reserve, an incredible area where you will see lots of birds, monkeys and at night search for black cayman before returning to the Manatee Explorer.

Day 4: Parrot Lick and Limoncocha Biological Reserve

Day 5: End of tour

Today you say farewell to the Manatee Explorer and take a canoe ride back upstream returning to the city of Coca where you board a flight back to Quito. On arrival in the capital you can extend your South American adventure by staying on and exploring on your own, taking another tour, or catching your flight back home taking with you a wealth of memories from one of the most fascinating places on Earth.
