Vibrant Milan is the fashion and design capital of Italy and today you’ll explore this dazzling city and encounter two of its greatest sights - the towering Gothic cathedral and Da Vinci’s astounding and famous picture of The Last Supper. After the tour you have plenty of free time to travel around on your own, perhaps visiting the world renown La Scala Opera House.

Day 3
Milan, Verona, transfer to Venice (embark)

Today you leave Milan and head to Venice, stopping on the way at picturesque Verona - which is home to Shakespeare’s tragic Romeo and Juliet and you will see the famous lovers' balcony. Outside fair Verona, enjoy a tasting and multi-course lunch at a beautiful Valpolicella wine estate before ending the day at magical Venice, where you will board your ship and begin your exploration of the “Queen of the Adriatic,” as the city is known.

Day 4
Venice

Take a memorable tour today that features the city’s top sights as well as a Venetian glassmaking demonstration. Later, you’re in for a once-in-a-lifetime experience - a crowd-free, after-hours visit inside St. Mark’s Basilica when you can appreciate this marvellous building without the crowds. In the evening, enjoy a Captain’s Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner on board your ship when you can meet fellow passengers.

Day 5
Chioggia (Padua)

There is no better way to appreciate the beauty of Venice than from the water, and today you can enjoy magnificent views of “The Floating City’s” greatest sights, including the Grand Canal and St Mark's Square, as your ship departs from the port of Venice. Visit the medieval walled city of Padua, walking through ancient arcades and porticos to Palazzo della Ragione, Padua’s historic city centre, and enjoy a treat at a local café.

Day 6
Polesella (Bologna or Ferrara)

You have a choice of things to see and do today. You can either spend the day in Bologna, Italy’s culinary capital, and the ideal place to learn first-hand the art of making pasta. Or, you can choose to spend a half day in Ferrara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a long history as a centre for the arts and a great place to buy souvenirs. Back on board your ship tonight there is plenty of organised entertainment and another great dinner awaits.

Day 7
Taglio di Po, Chioggia, Venice

There’s no better place to indulge in Italy’s famed frutti di mare than Chioggia, a colorful fishing village on the Venice Lagoon. Today you can stroll through the town’s bustling fish market with a guide and watch the locals trading as they have done for centuries. Later, head to the sun deck of your luxury ship to take in views of two more Venice Lagoon isles . . . sleepy Pellestrina, and Lido, which is home to the prestigious Venice Film Festival.

Day 8
Venice Island (Burano and Mazzorbo), Venice

Spend a wonderful day exploring the beautiful Venice Lagoon and two of its most notable islands. First visit Burano, known for its colorful houses and lace making tradition, and Mazzorbo, where you'll enjoy a special tasting of wine made from golden-hued Dorona grapes, a time-honored and historic variety that dates back for centuries. Between these two visits you can relax on board, enjoy good food and wine, and watch everyday life on the lagoon.

Day 9
Venice

Today you dock back at Venice where you can get a feel for daily life in the city with a guided stroll through the bustling Rialto Market, crossing the famous bridge, or take a tour around the renowned Accademia Gallery with an art historian as your guide. Tonight, back on board, is a special evening when you join fellow guests at the Captain’s Farewell Reception and Gala Dinner with the twinkling lights of the city as a romantic backdrop.

Day 10
Venice (disembark), transfer to the airport

Today you say farewell to new found friends and leave the ship when your tour around the high spots of Northern Italy comes to an end. Maybe time for some more sightseeing, walking around St Mark's Square and crossing the Bridge of Sighs, before heading to Marco Polo International Airport to catch your flight home. There is so much to see and do in Venice, and now may be a good time to extend your stay by booking into a hotel and delaying your return.

The Yard is an outstanding, unique and eccentric hotel and would recommend it to those who search for something different. It has the added advantage of location: in an emerging quarter of Milan

When returning to Malpensa by train Terminal 1 is mentioned at Milan Centrale but arriving back there to seek out Terminal 2 is very difficult to find. A simple instruction on the confirmation to go out of T1 and catch the bus to T2 would have been very helpful.
