On this exciting three night tour from Cains you are taken to some of the Southern Great Barrier Reef’s most colourful areas. From the mangrove channel at Hinchinbrook Island to the ancient rainforest of Dunk Island, and the untouched remoteness of Sudbury Cay, you experience a myriad habitats, on land and at sea. The itinerary has been designed to provide time to explore the Reef through snorkelling, scuba diving and glass bottom boat tours and includes a visit to the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre on Fitzroy Island. And when you’ve had your fill of exploring, enjoy sunset drinks and sumptuous seafood buffets onboard you boat.
Board your boat at Cairns’ Cruise Liner Terminal in the morning and sail out via Trinity Bay enjoying scenic views of Port Douglas Village. Then arrive at your first exclusive mooring site and take part in snorkelling or scuba diving over magnificent coral gardens. You can also explore on a glass bottom boat tour seeing a fish feeding display, and presentation by a marine biologist. End the day with sunset drinks on deserted Sudbury Sand Cay, before having your captain’s welcome seafood buffet back on board.
Today you cruise the scenic Hinchinbrook Channel, which separates Hinchinbrook Island from the mainland. Here you may have sightings of crocodiles, dolphins, whales, turtles and dugongs. Then listen to an interpretive commentary while on a mangrove tour before stopping at a tropical island and going on a guided bushwalk. Enjoy a typical gourmet Aussie beach BBQ before a snorkel and dive over the island’s fringing reef with its giant clam garden. Or you can try kayaking or simply relax on the sandy beach.
This morning you are taken on a rainforest walk on tropical Dunk Island with naturalist guides who will describe the wildlife and flora and fauna. On this walk you may well see the striking electric-blue Ulysses butterfly. Then in the afternoon you will discover colourful Nathan Reef, the perfect place to snorkel, go scuba diving or take a glass bottom boat tour. Here you will also enjoy an interactive marine biology presentation at the onboard display tank.
The final day of your Great Barrier Reef adventure, so make the most of it. This morning you can enjoy an idyllic bushwalk, hike around Fitzroy Island or go snorkelling over the colourful reef that surrounds it. For a change you can also try beachcombing on the white sands of Nudey Beach where you can enjoy the resort facilities. Then it's all aboard for the journey back to Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal where your memorable trip comes to an end. This three night cruise makes a great add on to any holiday in or around Cairns.
