Heading out from Ho Chi Minh City, this short tour gives you a fascinating insight into the way of life in rural Vietnam. You'll visit local homes, workplaces and markets as well as spectacular temples, and have plenty of time to relax in picturesque and tranquil surroundings. This tour would make an ideal add-on to a trip to Ho Chi Minh City.
Your tour begins this morning as you leave Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, and travel south into the heart of the Mekong Delta. Along the way, you'll be able to enjoy the rural scenes of farmers tending their fields and drying their produce on the sides of the road, and will visit a unique Cao Dai Temple. You'll board your boat at Cai Be Port and get your first glimpses of Delta life as you pass traditional houseboats and a small floating market. You'll visit a coconut-candy workshop before continuing along the narrow waterways, enjoying lunch with a local family and visiting a nursery before disembarking and continuing on to Can Tho. Here you'll check in at your hotel, enjoy a late-afternoon walking tour, including a visit to the local market, and finish the day with a cocktail by the river.
This morning you'll board your boat for a visit to the floating market at Cai Rang, where you can watch the local farmers trading their produce on the water as they have done for centuries. You'll continue on to an orchard where you can sample some tropical fruits and try some local tea, then stroll through the village of Binh Thuy. Next you'll visit Pothisomrom, an impressive Sakianuni Buddhist temple and academy. You'll arrive back at your hotel in time for lunch and have the rest of the afternoon at leisure to explore or just relax in the hotel.
After a leisurely breakfast you have the morning free to relax at the hotel before driving back to Ho Chi Minh City, where your tour ends.
