Elephant Hills was the first luxury tented jungle camp in Thailand. It cleverly combines the model of African national parks with the tropical Thai forest environment to create hotel-comfort amid wild terrain. Thirty luxuriant tents make up this camp in the largest area of rainforest in the country’s southern region. Skilled craftsmen built the bespoke furniture in each spacious tent using natural materials giving each one a personality and ambience of its own. A lively, semi-open air social hub is located at the camp’s centre and here you’ll find the restaurant offering hearty Thai favourites. This area is also a popular place to meet and chat with other guests during your three day adventure.
You will be picked up from your hotel in either Phuket, Krabi or Surat Thang and taken to the Phang Nga province of Thailand passing rubber and oil palm plantations along the way. The highlight of today is being taken to the elephant camp where you can interact with the animals feeding them and watching them bathe. After this take a jungle river canoe trip down the Sok River passing limestone cliffs covered in exotic vegetation. Dinner and overnight back at Elephant Hills.
Wake up in your luxury tent to the sounds of nature. When the sun comes up and clears the mist over the mountains and jungle of Elephant Hills the gibbons start to make their morning calls and they echo down the valley. After breakfast Explore the rivers that cut through the mangrove forest by small dinghy or smaller creeks in a canoe before emerging along the coast to enjoy lunch in a classical Burmese junk. The afternoon is spent exploring this fascinating costal environment. In the evening you are taken to Khao Sok and Elephant Hills where dinner is waiting.
After a good night's rest, lulled to sleep by the background symphony of insects and frogs, its time for a wholesome breakfast before exploring the jungle on foot. Nothing compares to actually walking through the jungle and learning about the ecology of the rain forest seeing the exotic plants and trees and huge orchids. Look out for macaque monkeys, gibbons, hornbill and the many snakes and reptiles. Enjoy a traditional lunch cooked in bamboo before returning to Elephant Hills where a tour representative is waiting to take you back to your holiday hotel or the airport.
