Burma, or Myanmar as it is called today, is one of the world's most fascinating destinations and is becoming more and more popular with travellers from all over the world. And while you are visiting this exotic destination it's well worth taking this short river tour which takes in some of the country's great sights.
Set sail from Mandalay and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Disembark for a horse and cart tour of Ava, the ancient capital. Visit the teak monastery of Bagaya Kyaung and the stucco-covered royal monastery, Me Nu Okk Kyaung. Enjoy a ‘longyi’ sarong tying and ‘thanaka’ application demonstration after lunch on board. In the evening, a glamorous cocktail party is followed by a spectacular dinner.
After breakfast, disembark for an introductory tour of Bagan. Visit two of the major pagodas along with a local market and lacquer workshop. Return to the ship for lunch, before continuing your exploration of the area. Tour a local village along with other pagodas and enjoy a spellbinding sunset panorama across the temple complex. Dinner on board tonight is followed by local entertainment.
An early-bird breakfast is served in the restaurant and then it's time to say farewell to new found friends before you disembark from Belmond Road to Mandalay for your onward travel arrangements. This short river tour to Bagan makes a great add on to any longer holiday in Myanmar and will leave you with lots of great memories.
