Departing from Pakse in Laos, this three-day cruise along the Mekong is an excellent way to see this breathtakingly beautiful part of the world. Your trip takes in atmospheric ruins, picturesque islands, a hidden forest and spectacular waterfalls, and along the way you'll also visit small local villages to really get a sense of rural life here.
Your tour begins as you meet your guide and the rest of your party at Sinouk Coffee House in the central of Pakse this morning. From here you'll transfer to a long-tail boat for the two-and-a-half hour cruise to Champasak, with a welcome drink and lunch on board. This afternoon you'll visit the spectacular ruins of a pre-Angkorian 10th-century temple complex at Vat Phou before heading back on board to enjoy the tropical sunset. You'll enjoy dinner on board before docking for the night at Ban Muang.
After breakfast this morning you'll get an authentic taste of rural life with a visit to Huei Thamo, then head to the hidden forest of Oum Muong. Next you'll cruise southwards, passing by the picturesque archipelago Si Phan Don (The 4,000 Islands), with lunch on board. In late afternoon you'll visit the traditional Laotian village of Ban Deua Tia, then it's back to the boat for dinner and to dock for the night at Ban Deua Tia.
You'll set off early this morning, with breakfast served as you cruise to Ban Veuthong, where you'll transfer to a small boat for your trip to Khone Island. Here you'll visit the old French railway and stroll across the bridge linking Khone Island and Det Island. From here you'll transfer to the mainland to enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant in the fishing village of Xieng Di. Afterwards you'll travel by bus to the spectacular Pha Pheng waterfall, known as "The Niagara of The East", before continuing on to Pakse, where your tour comes to an end in the late afternoon.
