Ngorongoro & Serengeti Tour

Description

There are great places in Africa to enjoy memorable safari trips, but few are more spectacular than this. In the shadow of spectacular Mount Kilimanjaro you will enjoy morning and evening game drives in the fabulous Ngorongoro Crater followed by safari adventures in the famous Serengeti National Park with the chance to see all of the Big Five - lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant. This six day trip makes a great add on to any longer holiday on the Dark Continent.

Day 1
Arrive Kilimanjaro

Your safari adventure begins when you arrive at Arusha, in the northern highlands of Tanzania, beneath the twin peaks of legendary Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. This is the safari capital of the country and anyone touring the northern circuit of game parks all stop in the 'Geneva of Africa' to prepare for their journeys into the bush. On arrival at the airport you will be met by one of our tour representatives and taken to the Lake Duluti Serena Hotel for a one night stay.

Day 2
Arusha to Ngorongoro

Following an early breakfast, you are met at the hotel and given a short safari briefing before departing for Karatu. You pass through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. Then continue into Karatu arriving at the Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge in time for lunch. The rest of the afternoon and evening is at leisure and you are free to explore the area around the lodge spotting some of the wildlife.

Day 3
Ngorongoro

After breakfast at the lodge you are driven to the Ngorongoro Crater for a tour and wildlife spotting stopping to enjoy a picnic lunch before returning to the your lodge late afternoon. The Ngorongoro Crater and the surrounding highlands together form one of Africa's most beautiful regions. Volcanic craters form dramatic backdrops to some of the most fertile and richest grazing grounds which are home to the highest density of big game on the continent.

Day 4
Ngorongoro to Serengeti

Today you say farewell to your lodge at Ngorongoro and begin the journey to the Serengeti National Park enjoying a game drive along the way. You arrive at the Serengeti Explorer Camp in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park. This is a good time to see the animals when they are at their most active and before the sun sets you may will have encountered some or all of the Big Five. Return to camp and enjoy dinner under the African stars.

Day 5
Serengeti

A great day in the Serengeti with game drives in the early morning and the evening with a chance to relax in between and soak up the sun. In the vast plains of Serengeti National Park the annual migration of two million wildebeests plus hundreds of thousands of gazelles and zebras - followed by their predators - is one of the most spectacular nature spectacles in the world. Today you could well see some of the endangered species like black rhino, wild dog and cheetah.

Day 6
Serengeti to Arusha

Maybe time for a last early morning game drive today before you are picked up at the camp and driven to the nearby Seronera airstrip for your flight back to Arusha. On arrival you will be met and taken for lunch in Arusha town centre before going back to your hotel or to the airport to catch an onward flight or begin your journey home. This great twin-centre safari holiday makes a great add on to any longer stay in Africa and will leave you with so many wonderful memories.

Efficient and helpful as ever

For connecting KLM flights hold luggage does not need to be collected between flights. Our stopover hotel was further from the airport than expected, would have preferred a hotel closer to the terminal.

Appreciated the pre-flight call.

Only minor hiccup was that I didn't get diabetic meals as requested, but that is a taste preference not a medical need, so no real issue.

Flew to Kilimanjaro

Flight times from Kilimanjaro were changed while we were in Tanzania, which was fine as I had on my phone, but we met a guy who didn't have that facility and missed his flight! Perhaps texts of any changes should be sent out as well as emails?
