Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Moshi

Your tour begins today as you're met in Arusha town or at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to the town of Moshi, known as the gateway to Mount Kilimanjaro.

Standard Hotel in Moshi Area

Day 2: Mandara Hut

After breakfast and a short tour briefing, you'll head to the Marangu Gate of Kilimanjaro National Park and begin your climb with a four-hour walk through thick rainforest to the Mandara encampment, where you'll spend the night.

Standard Mandara Hut

Day 3: Horombo Hut

Today you will continue your ascent through the forest to the heather and moorland zone at roughly 3,000m (approximately a six-hour walk), from where you can enjoy stunning views of the mountain peaks. You'll spend the night at Horombo Hut, in a picturesque valley surrounded by giant lobelia and groundsel.

Standard Horombo Hut

Day 4: Kibo Hut

Today you'll continue past the final watering point and onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro, between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. At approximately 4,000m you'll notice the vegetation thinning out, as you enter a desert-like zone often described as looking like a lunar landscape. Soon Kibo peak will come into view. You'll spend the night at Kibo Hut, a comfortable stone building.

Standard Kibo Hut

Day 5: Horombo Hut

Today's climb begins shortly after midnight, both because it's easier to climb the scree slope to Gillman's Point while it is frozen and in the hope of completing the six-hour trek to the summit in time for sunrise. From Gilman's Point, it is a further two-hour round trip along the crater's edge to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895m. After time at the summit to rest and take in the views, you'll begin the journey downhill to Horombo Hut, where you will spend your last night on the mountain.

Standard Horombo Hut

Day 6: Moshi

Today you'll continue your descent past the Mandara encampment to the bottom of the mountain, where you'll receive a certificate to commemorate your achievement before transferring to a base hotel in Moshi for dinner and your overnight stay

Standard Hotel in Moshi Area

Day 7: Depart Arusha

After breakfast, you'll be transferred back to Arusha town, where your adventure comes to an end.
