Radisson Blu Hotel Berlin

Radisson Blu Hotel Berlin 3 Star

from £125 per room night

Location

Thanks to the giant, futuristic fish tank in the grand atrium of the Radisson Blu, you might forget that you’re in the heart of the cosmopolitan German capital. In fact, you are located on the banks of the river Spree, between Alexanderplatz and Museum Island, just across from the cathedral. It’s hard to believe there’s so much going on just outside, because inside this is a calming retreat, where you can relax whether on holiday or travelling for business. The local transport options are endless too, so getting around is easy.

Rooms

Take advantage of the free wi-fi, the 24-hour room service and complimentary sports and premium movie channels. Floor-to-ceiling windows let the light stream in, and rooms either overlook the Berlin cityscape or the mesmerising AquaDom installation with its scores of tropical fish. There are 427 rooms and suites, each decorated in warm, natural tones and brightened up by occasional pops of colour and contemporary furnishings.

Activities

Having a concierge means tailoring a visit just for you. But if you’re a traveller who likes to leave serendipity to make decisions for you, then you only need step outside and walk across to Museum Island, where classical treasures can be seen at the Pergamon Museum or masterpieces from Impressionism to Realism can be seen at Alte Nationalgalerie. There are several other museums and galleries in the vicinity, part of a range of cultural highlights that Berlin is so famous for. Sea Life Berlin is just next door to the hotel too, and manages the imposing fish tank AquaDom that holds up to 1 million litres of water and hundreds of fish!

Dining

Summer is the best time to come to Restaurant HEat, as the warm weather allows you to head out onto the tree-shaded terrace, where you can watch boats drifting past as you dine. Indoors, a show kitchen contrasts with views of Berlin Cathedral. But you won’t want to take your eyes off the food either – comforting classics range from Wiener Schnitzel and Berlin potato soup to currywurst sausage and stone-baked pizzas, all vying for your attention alongside other global fare.

Spa

You’ll be pleased to know that all the German sausage can be burnt off in the on-site gym, part of the generous wellbeing options at the Radisson Blu. Pick up your towel and bathing shoes and make use of the indoor pool – free for guests to use and set within the aptly named Heaven Spa. There’s a sauna, choice of different showers to cool down, and footbaths to boost circulation. If that’s not enough to relax you then be sure to book a massage and sooth your stresses away.
