Location

Set on a hillside overlooking the Indian Ocean and Nusa Dua, Amanusa – meaning ‘peaceful isle’ – is only 20 minutes from Denpasar Airport, yet a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A serene retreat, Amanusa is good for golfers, with the Bali National Golf Club 10 minutes away, while it is also close to the shopping and nightlife areas Sanur and Seminyak, the beaches of Nusa Dusa and Kuta.

Rooms

Designed with the signature Aman style, the Amanusa’s colonnaded foyer welcomes you with the sight of baskets of white tuberoses and a large teak sculpture of the epic Hundu poem, Ramayana. The 35 thatched suites are connected by walkways, and each one has a four-poster bed draped in white mosquito netting, a sunken indoor bathtub as well as an outdoor shower. Each of the Garden and Delux suites has a terrace with a daybed and sun canopy for relaxing and al-fresco dining. The Pool suites have private swimming pools and a spacious terrace as well as a walled courtyard garden, which is perfect for private dining. The Villas have at least three ensuite bedrooms, and a large private swimming pool, and several have outdoor bath tubs and showers. Beyond the pool terrace is a garden with a large alfresco dining pavilion which seats 10. There is air-conditioned library and home theatre facilities. Wi-Fi is available in all suites.

Activities

Relax around the walled 30m pool surrounded by bougainvillea and frangipani trees, or have a game of tennis on one of Amanusa’s two all-weather courts, where there is a shady bale for breaks and cool drinks, and ball boys can even be provided. Amanusa’s beach club is located on the beachfront of the Bali National Golf Club, so you can have a round of golf then collapse onto a sunlounger in one of the beach bales. The white-sand beach is fringed by a coral reef that provides a perfect lagoon for scuba diving, swimming and other watersports. Enjoy a treatment in the Spa Suite, or in the privacy of your own suite, with one of the spa therapists who blend Balinese with Swedish massage techniques, as well as offering pedicures, manicures and facials. The library has a good selection of books on Indonesian art and cuture, as well as novels, magazines and newspapers, CDs and DVDs. The boutique offers Balinese and Indonesian jewellery, handicrafts, and resort wear, and there are meeting fa

Dining

You can enjoy sunrise breakfast in one of the beach club bales, or at The Terrace restaurant, which serves Thai, Indonesian and continental cuisine with views of the golf course, the Indian Ocean and Bukit Peninsua. The Italian restaurant is open for dinner, in an elegant high-celinged room or in the romantic outoor courtyard among the flowering frangipani trees. A bougainvillea-framed café area next to the pool serves light snacks and sandwiches, while opposite the Terrace, the Bar is the perfect spot for enjoying a drink while the sun sets over the ocean.
