Cruising along the Nile has to be one of the world's great journeys, and what better way to do it than on board the Oberoi Philae. This elegant and charming vessel is designed to resemble a 19th-century paddle steamer, yet its facilities are anything but old-fashioned, including a fitness centre, plunge pool, library and spa. Add fine-dining and excellent service to the mix and you have everything you need for an unforgettable trip.
You'll board the Oberoi Philae at noon, and enjoy a delicious lunch on board before your first stop, as you visit the temple at Karnak before proceeding to Luxor Museum. You'll rejoin your ship in time for a delicious dinner and will dock overnight in Luxor.
You'll rise early this morning and, after breakfast, you'll explore the West Bank of ancient Thebes. Your tour will take in the Valley of the Kings, where you'll have the chance to admire its royal tombs, before you continue to the temple of Madinat Habu and Dier el-Madina, the ancient village which was once home to the workers who built the tombs of the Valley of the Kings. Your final stop will be at the magnificent Colossi of Memnon. You'll then enjoy lunch on board and some pampering in the onboard spa as you sail to Qena where, in the early evening, you'll visit the temple of Dandara, dedicated to Hathor, goddess of music, love and joy. Later this evening you'll enjoy a cocktail reception with entertainment before dinner. You'll dock overnight in Qena.
Another early start this morning, as you enjoy breakfast on board before a visit to the Temple of Abydos. You'll then rejoin the Oberoi Philae and sail to Luxor, enjoying lunch and some spa time before visiting Luxor Temple in the early evening. You'll return to the ship for dinner and will dock overnight in Luxor.
This morning you'll enjoy breakfast and some more spa time as you sail towards Edfu. After lunch on board you'll visit the incredibly well-preserved Temple of Edfu, dedicated to Horus the falcon god, before returning to the ship for dinner and to dock overnight in Edfu.
This morning you'll enjoy breakfast on board as you continue your cruise to Komombo, where you'll visit the twin temple of Komombo, one side of which is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek, worshipped as a god of fertility and creator of the world, and the other to the falcon god Haroeis, also known as Horus. Afterwards, you'll enjoy lunch and some spa time as you continue to Aswan. In the late afternoon, you'll visit the Nubian Museum by motor boat, before dinner back on board. You'll dock overnight in Aswan.
