Amazon Ecopark Lodge

Description

When in Brazil you would be nuts not to spend at least some time in the Amazon Jungle. And there is probably no better way to see this amazing area than by staying for three days and two nights at the marvellous Amazon Ecopark near Manaus. It opened in 1995 as a tourist, scientific and educational property and has been welcoming visitors ever since. You stay in one of the 20 air-conditioned rustic bungalows in the rain forest and have meals in a panoramic open air restaurant. A bar, living room, natural pools, massage room and reading room make up the social areas.

Day 1
Manaus to Ecopark

Today you leave Manaus and travel to the Amazon Ecopark. After unpacking and settling in to your rain forest surroundings you will be taken on a visit to the nearby Monkey Jungle to see the primates. Return to the lodge for lunch then visit a Cabocio house to meet some of the Amazonian natives. After dinner tonight you are taken on an exciting nocturnal alligator spotting boat trip seeing if you can catch a glimpse of those red eyes in the darkness.

Day 2
Ecopark activities

Enjoy a breakfast of eggs, pancakes, French toast and delicious fresh fruits before heading out on a nature hike in the rain forest looking out for the stunning array of creatures and insects that inhabit this unique area. There are more than six miles of jungle trails where you walk through giant trees and see beautiful orchids. Return to the lodge for lunch then go on a fishing trip on the river. Later enjoy a buffet style open air dinner with fellow guests sampling more of the local produce.

Day 3
Ecopark to Manaus

This is your last day at the Ecopark, but a memorable one. After breakfast depart for a full day trip to the Meeting of the Waters, which includes lunch. Later you travel by boat back to Manaus where the tour comes to an end. This Ecopark break make a great add on to any holiday in Brazil or a great place to stop over while on a tour of South America.

I would like to thank Richard for all his wonderful suggestions. From booking me in the Concierge class on my cruise ship, which made a huge difference to a starboard cabin, which meant I was on the right side to view glaciers and things. Lastly booking me into the Singular hotel in Santiago which was superb. Wonderful!

One of our connecting flights was cancelled, you informed us very quickly and we were able to resolve it with the airline at Heathrow before starting our outbound journey. If we'd found out later it would probably have resulted in losing a couple of days of our holiday. The hotel you sorted out in Quito was excellent (apart from the broken lift!)
