Today you can explore Eysturoy. Sometimes called the only bridge over the North Atlantic, it spans the narrow channel of Sundini to connect with the larger island of Streymoy. Because the channel is so narrow, there are spectacular eddies. Eysturoy boasts the tallest mountain in the Faroes and the road under it connects two quaint villages - Eidi and Slættaratindur. There is an excellent heritage museum and you can spend some of the day in Gjogv, known for its unique natural harbour.
Today after breakfast at your hotel leave Eysturoy and drive through the sub-sea tunnel to the town of Klaksvik. From here it is possible to explore the other Northern Islands. Viday has the most Northern village in the Faroes, and here you can stop off for a meal at the local restaurant. Lots of wonderful natural sights to see as you head north before checking into your next hotel on the Northern Islands.
Today you can visit the island of Kunoy where there is a beautiful panoramic view of the nearby island of Kalsoy and where legend has it a plank from Noah’s Ark lies high up on the mountain. Then begin the drive back to Eysturoy where you visit a private home in Soldarfjordur for coffee and cake and discover from the family all about the fascinating way of life on these idyllic islands. Overnight in Torsavn.
Another day, another island, when you visit Sandoy, which is also called the Saga Island. Sandoy has a wealth of history and some wonderful nature for you to appreciate. You’ll first take the ferry from Gamlaraett to Skopun then drive through and stop at the colourful villages of Dalur, Husavik and Skalavik where you can meet the locals and shop for souvenirs before returning to Torshavn where you spend another night.
After breakfast at your hotel spend today in Torshavn. While exploring the area make sure that you don't miss the village of Kirkjubour, which is the Faroe Islands historical and cultural centre. The farm here is home to a family who have lived there for 17 generations and they have lots of interesting tales to tell. Make the most of today and tonight enjoy a farewell dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight in Vagar.
