RV River Kwai Cruise

Description

This short cruise along the River Kwai is the perfect way to explore this beautiful and historic region. You'll travel on the RV River Kwai, a colonial-style river cruiser based on designs used by the original Irrawaddy Flotilla. Accommodation is in comfortable air-conditioned teak cabins, and along the way you'll visit awe-inspiring temples, the notorious bridge over the River Kwai, ancient ruins and spectacular natural landscapes. This cruise would make a perfect add-on to any stay in Bangkok.

Day 1
Bangkok to Kanchanaburi

Early this morning, you'll be collected from your hotel and travel by coach to Kanchanaburi, stopping along the way at the stunning Phra Pathom Chedi, the tallest stupa in the world, before proceeding to the impressive Khao Noi Cave Temple and Tiger Cave Temple. You'll reach Kanchanaburi in time for lunch. This afternoon you'll visit Hellfire Pass, the railway cutting famously built with forced labour during the Second World War, before boarding the RV River Kwai and cruising downstream on Kwai Noi River, with dinner and overnight stay on board.

Day 2
Ban Hin Dad to Sai Yok Yai

After breakfast on board you'll disembark and board a coach for your journey to the stunning Hin Dad Hot Spring and Pha Tad Waterfall. You'll rejoin the RV River Kwai for lunch and an afternoon at leisure to relax, before dinner and overnight on board.

Day 3
Sai Yok to Ban Kao

After breakfast on board you'll enjoy a short visit to Sai Yok Elephant Village before returning to the RV River Kwai for lunch. This afternoon you'll board the coach to visit Krasae Cave, home to impressive Buddha statues, situated on the bank of the Kwai Noi River. Afterwards you'll take a train, which affords spectacular views as it passes over the long wooden viaduct, before boarding a coach to Prasat Muang Singh, a historical park filled with Khmer architecture from the late Lopburi period. You'll return to the RV River Kwai in the late afternoon and enjoy time to relax and watch the world go by before a farewell dinner.

Day 4
Ban Kao to Kanchanaburi to Bangkok

This morning you'll enjoy breakfast on board while cruising to the cave temple of Wat Tham Khaopoon. You'll continue by coach to the famous bridge over the River Kwai and learn more about its notorious history at the Thailand-Burma Railway Center Museum, before a visit to the Donrak War Cemetery. You'll rejoin the RV River Kwai for lunch, then disembark for the final time and return to Bangkok by coach, arriving in the early evening.
