Day 1
Hong Kong
Before setting sail be blown away by the exhilaration of Hong Kong and its fascinating mix of East and West. Shop for silk, jade, souvenirs, fashions and high end goods in the markets and malls or take the funicular to the Peak for some spectacular views. Ride the historic Star Ferry from Hong Kong Island to Kowloon or experience a thrilling cable car ride to the impressive Big Buddha and the tranquil Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island.

Day 2
At Sea
The first of your full days at sea and a good time to get to know Royal Caribbean's Spectrum of the Seas and all that she has to offer. Sit back, chill in the bar, lounge by the pool or enjoy a relaxing beauty treatment in the spa. For simple pleasures, why not try a game of table tennis? Or if you’re feeling energetic, now’s the chance to explore all the amazing activities the ship has to offer, from spectacular, West-End-style entertainment to adrenalin-charged sports.

Day 3
At Sea
Another day to relax and soak up the sun as the Spectrum of the Seas heads for Japan. This wonderful modern ship has so much to offer passengers and there is never a dull moment while on board. Today may be a good time to book your tours at the various ports of call after attending a talk about the places of interest you can visit. Enjoy all the great food on offer throughout the day trying different dining options for every meal.

Day 4
Fukuoka
Today you can try tonkotsu ramen, a Japanese noodle soup sold at street stalls in Fukuoka, on Japan’s Kyushu Island. Explore the city’s ancient temples, beaches and modern shopping malls, or visit the impressive Fukuoka Art Museum in Ohori Park, with works by Miro, Chagall, Warhol and Asian artists. Maizuru Park contains ruins of the 17th-century Fukuoka Castle and has stunning displays of wisteria and cherry blossom in spring.

Day 5
Kagoshima
Find a good spot to see Sakurajima, one of Japan’s most active volcanoes, which dominates the city and bay. You’re not allowed too close, but the volcano’s smoking fury makes for an impressive sight. Enjoy splendid views over the city from Shiroyama Park, which houses the Reimeikan Museum, dedicated to local history and culture. Visit Senganen Garden for stunning Japanese landscaping and lovely views over the bay.

Day 6
Nagasaki
Watch colourful carp swimming through the canals of Shimabara city or see how you look in Ninja and Samurai armour at Shimabara Castle. In Nagasaki, reflect on world history and peace at the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum or take a boat trip to uninhabited Hashima Island, inspiration for the ghost island in the Bond movie Skyfall. At the Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture you can have a go at traditional Japanese crafts.

Day 7
At Sea
Today the Spectrum of the Seas leaves Japan and begins the voyage back to Hong Kong. Spend some time in the superb spa, take part in sports and various deck games, listen to a fascinating lecture, relax on deck or in one of the bars or lounges with friends and enjoy all the entertainment which on this super ship runs from dawn to dusk. There is never a dull moment when you choose a Royal Caribbean cruise.

Day 8
At Sea
You final day at sea on the cruise so relax and make the most if it. Food plays a big part in any cruise and on the Spectrum of the Seas there are lots of dining options you can choose from. Today you may want to pamper yourself with a beauty treatment or massage in the state of the art spa, take part in sports and deck games and in the evening enjoy special exotic cocktails in one of the bars before seeing a show in the main theatre.

Hong Kong
Your wonderful Best of Japan cruise comes to an end today when the Spectrum of the Seas arrives back into Hong Kong. Make sure you say farewell to new found friends then possibly stay on for a few more days seeing more of the iconic sights before heading to the airport to catch an onward flight or beginning your journey back home. This short cruise makes a great add on to any longer stay in the Far East and will leave you with lots of marvellous memories.
