Overview
Few countries in Africa can match Namibia's sheer natural beauty. The country's name derives from the world's oldest desert, the Namib, and there are few more stirring desert realms on the planet - from the perfect dead-tree valleys to the otherworldliness of massive sand dunes plunging down to the sea along the Skeleton Coast. Through the heart of the country is a spine of mountains that create glorious scenery and jaw-dropping canyons and it's hard to think of an iconic African landscape that the country doesn't possess. All this, as well as being one of the best places to view wildlife.
Day 1
Windhoek
After arriving at the international airport you pick up your car and drive along the mountainous terrain to Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia, which has an afro-European flair and peaceful atmosphere. Check in to your hotel, and relax after the journey. Then in the evening go out and explore meeting the local people and enjoying typical Namibian cuisine in one of the numerous restaurants in the city.

Day 2
Namib Desert
Your adventure begins in earnest today as you begin by traveling south into the heart of the Namib Desert, an area with awe-inspiring landscapes and majestic sand dunes. Arriving at your lodge, situated near the entrance to Sesriem, the remainder of the day can be spent at leisure, you stay for two nights, you can enjoy a late afternoon walk and explore the surrounding area or take part in the optional activities which are on offer.
tour image
Day 3
Sossusvlei
Wake up early this morning to see the magnificent sunrise over the mighty dunes of the Namib Desert. Gaze at the bright splash of sun-baked sand combined with the mighty play of shadows they cast and make sure you have your camera at the ready. Then from Sossusvlei visit Dead Vlei, a surreal white clay pan surrounded by monumental dunes and dotted with age-old camelthorn trees. On the way back to the lodge visit the Sesriem Canyon, a spectacular 18 million-year-old gorge.

Day 4
Swakopmund
Today you travel via the Namib Naukluft Park to Swakopmund, a tranquil coastal town situated between the Namib Desert and the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the Welwitschia plains and the aptly named Moonlandscape, two of the attractions during this scenic drive. In Swakopmund, you will have the chance to take part in some of the adventurous activities on offer. These include scenic flights, dolphin cruises, quad biking, parasailing and dune boarding.

Day 5
Swakopmund
A full day to enjoy Namibia's favourite costal resort. Swakopmund is the country's playground, a holiday destination for tourists and locals alike looking to escape the heat of the interior and have fun. The city itself resembles a small German town and manages to create a feeling of timelessness with its palm-fringed streets, seaside promenades, restaurants, cafes, art galleries and museums. Here you can also take part in lots of adrenaline inducing activities.
tour image
Day 6
Damaraland
On your way to Damaraland visit the largest Cap Fur Seal colony in southern Africa at Cape Cross. Your lodge for the evening is situated in the heart of the Damaraland, where game such as rhino, desert elephant and kudu roam freely. A visit to the Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes is particularly rewarding in the later afternoon. En route to your lodge you can stop at various local street stands to buy handcrafted artifacts and a wide variety of minerals and gemstones.

Day 7
Etosha
After breakfast, visit Twyfelfontein, a National Heritage Site and an “open air art gallery” that boasts more than 2,500 different Bushman rock engravings and rock paintings. On the way to your lodge you can also visit a traditional Himba village and meet these proud and statuesque people. The Himba still adhere to their traditional values and cultures and are one of the last truly nomadic tribes on earth. Then travel north to the Etosha National Park to stay the night in a lodge.

Day 8
Etosha National Park
Entering the Etosha National Park in the early morning at the Andersson Gate at the southern entrance, your day is devoted purely to the abundant wildlife found here. The park surrounds a parched salt desert known as the Etosha Pan, and is home to four of the Big Five. The park’s waterholes support a diversity of mammals and birds, including species such as black-faced impala, cheetah, and Namibia’s smallest antelope, the Damara Dik-Dik. You exit at the Eastern Gate back to your lodge.

Day 9
Etosha
You have the entire day available for extensive safari experiences. No game drive is the same; all waterholes hold new surprises and attract different animal species that you may not have seen on previous trips. The game drives are normally taken in the early morning and the late afternoon - times when the animals are at their most active. Another chance today to see some or all of the Big Five - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo.

Day 10
Okonjima
You say farewell to the stunning Etosha National Park today and can look out for more animals in the wild as you drive south through Namibia’s maize triangle with its majestic Otavi Mountain range. This is one of the most scenic locations in Namibia - perfect for going on memorable walks or guided nature safaris on the private nature reserves. Time for plenty of stops along the way before arriving at your next destination.

Day 11
Windhoek
After breakfast there may be time for some more wildlife viewing before you begin the drive south from your lodge towards Windhoek. After strolling through one of the large craft markets in Okahandja, your route takes you between high mountain ranges back to the capital city, where your fantastic adventure comes to an end. This great self-drive tour is the perfect way to experience this fascinating and beautiful country and along the way you will see so many famous sights.

In the vast arid space of Northern Namibia lies one of Southern Africa’s best loved wildlife sanctuaries . . . and on this fantastic four day tour you will see the best of it. Etosha National Park offers excellent game viewing in one of Africa’s most accessible venues. Zebra and springbok are scattered across the endless horizon, while the many waterholes attract endangered black rhinoceros, lion, elephant and large numbers of antelope. Etosha, meaning 'place of dry water’, encloses a huge flat depression, or pan, which provides a great, parched, silver-white backdrop of shimmering mirages to an area of semi-arid savannah grassland and thorn scrub. The pan itself contains water only after very good rains and sometimes for only a few days, but is enough to stimulate the growth of a blue-green algae which lures thousands of flamingos.
