Set amid a 10-acre organic plantation in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, between Cusco and Machu Picchu, Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba is a contemporary hacienda-style hotel that makes an ideal base for exploring the area's beautiful scenery and fascinating Inca sites.
There are 12 rooms and 24 luxury casitas, all with breathtaking views of the valley from their private terraces. They're decorated with colonial furniture, authentic Inca masks and handcrafted woodwork, and have amenities including television, Wifi, iPad, Bluetooth speakers, minibar, safe and telephone.
You'll find a wide range of activities and excursions on offer, including cookery classes and wine tastings, and a choice of fascinating cultural activities, such as the chance to take part in a Payment to the Earth ceremony – an ancient ritual for giving thanks to the Andean gods, performed by a local shaman. You could also take a trip to a local ecological farm to learn about medicinal plants, take a guided sunset trail walk to learn more about Andean astronomy and, of course, visit the local Inca sites.
The restaurant here serves both local and international dishes, made using organic ingredients harvested at Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba. There's also a cosy bar where you can curl up with a drink in front of the fireplace.
