Newly renovated Deep Blue is located on the Colombian island of Providencia, backed by lush rainforest and facing out on to the sparkling Caribbean Sea. The island offers a taste of untouched paradise, being one of the region’s quieter and less touristy destinations, and Creole culture abounds, from the beach shacks serving local cuisines to the music that plays everywhere you go.
There are just 12 rooms and suites at Deep Blue, all with private balcony and sea views. The décor is in tranquil neutrals with splashes of vivid colour, and all of the accommodation has comfy king-size beds and slick, flat-screen TVs. The Jacuzzi and Luxury Suites have whirlpool tubs overlooking the ocean.
The turquoise sea is the main attraction at Deep Blue, and there are tons of watersports to try, from snorkelling and diving to kayaking. The hotel even has its own luxury cruiser that can take you to neighbouring islands, and a free shuttle bus that circuits the island every morning, allowing you to try a different beach each day. The friendly staff can also organise barbecues on empty beaches, jungle treks and deep-sea-fishing trips.
The restaurant at Deep Blue sits on a deck over the water and is a relaxed and romantic place to enjoy a meal of traditional Colombian and Caribbean flavours, as well as international dishes. Breakfast is tropical fruits and homemade pastries, while come evening you can sip a sundowner as you listen to the lapping waves.
