Kurumba is the Maldives' first private island resort and one of its finest. Go barefoot, be served on the white-sand beach under coconut trees, dine by moonlight and candles or dress for dinner and dance into the morning. Named after the coconuts that grow throughout the island, Kurumba was completely renewed and re-opened in 2004 as a resort of distinction, class and style.
Kurumba boasts 180 bungalows and villas, dotted throughout the island within gardens just paces from the beach. All accommodation exudes good taste, with polished wood floors, timber-clad ceilings and antique-style wooden furniture. Amenities include walk-in dressing room, a marble-sided tub and an outdoor art-deco shower in a private open-air patio, plus mini bar, satellite TV and luxury products.
Water sporting opportunities at Kurumba Maldives are endless, from a catamaran and windsurfing school to parasailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding and kayaking. Snorkellers will love the house reef, where they have the chance to see turtles and shy sharks amongst the marine life. On land, the Sports Centre is home to three tennis courts and a fully equipped gym.
Kurumba Maldives has a multitude of dining options. The main restaurant offers gourmet buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a different themed buffet every night. Other venues include Ocean Grill, set on the edge of the beach, the Hamakaze sushi bar and speciality Chinese restaurant Ming Court. There's also a coffee shop, beach bar and private dining is available.
