Long Beach is a Mauritian hotel like no other. Throughout this 5 star property which opened in 2011, runs an urban theme: the squares within the hotel have been designed like piazzas and the striking stone and wood architecture is completely unique, surrounded by the natural palm trees of the area. One of the highlights of the resort is its long white sand beach: it is the longest and widest beach on the island, giving you masses of space in which to relax and unwind.
Equa Spa sits inside its own pavilion slightly separated from the rest of the resort, offering a huge range of treatments in complete peace.
Long Beach guests have access to the stunning championship golf course at Le Touessrok which is up the coast. A free shuttle bus runs there and back every day.
Each of the 255 rooms look out onto the beach and are decorated in white and soft colours, with huge floor-to-ceiling windows which open to let in the gentle sea breeze. In terms of technology, the quality here can’t be beaten: to start with, the 42'' LCD flat-screen TVs receive satellite sports and entertainment, international news and kids' channels, in English, French, German and Italian. Rooms also have international direct-dial telephones, Wi-Fi internet access, iPod stations, digital clocks, radios, electronic room safes, hairdryers, individually controlled air-conditioning and electrical shaver points as well as well-stocked mini-bars and tea and coffee making facilities. The en suite bathrooms are as slick and luxurious as the architecture surrounding them, and guests can chose from family, standard, beachfront or deluxe when it comes to what size to pick.
The inviting infinity pool and long, soft beach will keep some entertained throughout their stay, but for those feeling adventurous, the lagoon behind the hotel offers superb snorkelling. Kayaks, laser sails, glass-bottom boat trips, waterskiing, wind-surfing, aqua gym classes, water polo, volley polo and basket polo are free of charge, while scuba diving, big game fishing, parasailing, catamaran sailing, canoeing, oxoon and banana rides cost extra. Land sports include tennis courts and a full array of gym classes as well as outdoor sports including a cycling track and skating path.
For beach chic or sophisticated dining, Long Beach has five restaurants offering a selection of cuisine from around the world with indoor and outdoor seating. And if you really can’t move from the beach or the comfort of your room, beach and room service is also available.
