General

You’ll find this 5-star boutique hotel in London’s trendy East End, right next to Liverpool Street mainline and underground stations, making it an excellent choice if you wish to explore the city. It’s also easy to get to all the major airports – the Stansted Express will take you straight to Liverpool Street station. And it’s ideally located for London’s business district.

Spa

The hotel has its own fully equipped gym to help you keep in shape, and there’s a steam room and treatment room, should you wish to book a massage or beauty treatment – or you can arrange to be pampered in the comfort of your own room.

Room Description

Every one of the 267 uber-stylish rooms comes with a host of features, including complimentary soft-drink minibar, free wifi, iPod docking station, work desk and classic Eames chair, flatscreen TV and yukata robes. The suites are larger and provide a separate seating area; some have city views. There are also a number of specially designed accessible rooms.

Activities

Just wandering around the local area is an adventure – with Spitalfields and Leadenhall markets and Brick Lane on your doorstep, and many boutiques and quirky little shops. Also within walking distance are St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London, as well as vibrant Columbia Road Flower Market and one of Europe’s largest shopping malls, Westfield Stratford City. If you want to shop but don’t feel like heading out, you’ll find Grenson Shoes, selling hand-crafted designs, and Carr Diamonds, for jewellery and watches, located within the hotel.

Dining

There are restaurants aplenty in the surrounding area, but the hotel’s own eateries may tempt you to stay indoors. For stylish British cuisine, served in the former Great Eastern Hotel’s ballroom, there’s 1901, which does a mean line in cocktails and even has its own wine and cheese cellar. Heading east on the taste trail, Miyako offers traditional Japanese dishes and bento boxes, while Catch Champagne Bar and Lounge is the place for snacks, bellinis and, unsurprisingly, champagne, with over 70 to choose from. There’s also Eastway, a New York-themed brasserie, and the George Pub, for classic English cooking.
