Just half an hour from the airport (38km) and nestled in 50,000 sq metres of pinewood on the coast, the Gloria Verde Resort brings together the best of both worlds for holidaying couples – the Gloria Golf Resort with three golf courses (a total of 45 holes) just 800m away and reached by complimentary shuttle and a 75-metre long sandy beach complete with showers and changing cabins. For a change of pace, the Gloria Serenity Resort is also only 2.7km away through the gold course or you can travel to Antalya, the nearest city, just 46km away.
After a day in the sun, treat your mind and body to a little pampering at the Asklépion Spa & Thalasso with a purifying treatment, many of which include sea mud, detoxifying seaweed and treated seawater. Sample a rejuvenating Oyster massage, Thai massage or after a day on the course, a Golf massage. As well as a host of other treatments, there’s also a Turkish bath, Jacuzzi and a steam room.
The Gloria Golf Club, designed by renowned architect Michel Gayon, is the place to be if you’re a keen golfer. Offering the biggest golf course in Turkey, there’s two 18-hole championship courses and a nine-hole Verde course. Surrounded by pine trees, they’re a mix of challenging holes for the more experienced as well as those designed to help you improve your game.
The hotel’s 144 Standard rooms are anything but – roomy with a balcony or a terrace, each also has a separate sitting area for relaxing. Upgrade to a suite or Junior suite for a French bed and an extra living area or try a Deluxe suite for two bathrooms, one of which has a Jacuzzi bath for a little more luxury. Opt for a spacious family suite for two bedrooms with a garden view or for a huge 176 sq m King Suite for a variety of buttons that change your environment at just a touch. For more independence, the resort’s villas are also on offer with a fully furnished kitchen, private buggy for getting around and access to a private fitness centre. Top of the range is the Verde Presidential Villa – complete with its own butler, marble bathroom, sauna and meeting room as well as two private buggies.
Be prepared to live in your swimsuit – not only is there an adult pool with poolside bar and children’s pool, there’s also a Thalasso pool filled with treated seawater – and for when the sun gets too hot, an indoor pool and beach pavilions for private sunbathing. The beach is also worth experiencing – not only is it perfectly maintained but if you’re there at the right time, you may even spot a Caretta turtle, whose habit is carefully protected. You can also stay active at the fitness centre, try watersports, play a round of golf or a game of tennis or football. The resort aims to keep children occupied too with the Gogi Kids Club – split into the Mini club for young children, Junior Club for those aged 8-12 and a Teenager Club. And in the evenings, there’s plenty to see at the resort’s amphitheatre or take in a game at the bowling alley or entertainment centre.
Get on board with a Mediterranean diet at the Mythos restaurant with fresh seafood, vegetables, creamy cheeses and hearty grains or sample rich French flavours at the Basilica a la carte restaurant, complete with French tradition-trained chefs. For dining a little further afield, there’s the Garuda restaurant – a fabulous fusion of Chinese and Thai tastes, such as Beijing style duck and veal with abalone sauce. Casual dining is also on offer at the Neptuno Bar and the Grill Verde Pub or you can grab a nightcap at the Zodiac Bar, Lobby Lounge or Select Bar.
