Acommodation at the Sonesta is in a variety of stylish suites, ranging from a Junior Suite King, a Rooftop Suite, Sunset Swim Out Suite to the Penthouse. Whichever one you choose, you can expect an endless list of amenities and features, including ocean views, custom-designed furnishings and artwork, 400-thread count linens, free wi-fi, flatscreen satellite TV, direct-dial phone with voicemail, mobile phone charging station, wireless connect music player, mini fridge with premium drinks, water, beer and sodas, Lavazza espresso and hot drinks machine, electronic laptop sized safe and a furnished balcony or terrace. Bathroms are done out in Italian porcelain and Greek marble, with rain shower heads, hair dryers, bathrobes and slippers and designer toiletries. Oh and an iron and ironing board, and oversized wardrobes… what do you mean, what else?
As well as the whole of the Maho Beach to play on, the Sonesta is an all-inclusive resort, providing everything you could wish for in a holiday – as well as the fitness centre, there is a whole programme of scheduled daytime activities such as aerobics, billiards, board games, darts, ping-pong, snorkeling tennis and aqua aerobics, plys nightly theme parties, live entertainment and outdoor movie shows. Then in case you run out of things to do here, you can go and spend the day at the Sonesta’s sister resort of Great Bay and Philipsburg, which is also within walking distance of the shopping opportunities in Philipsburg itself.
There are two restaurants and two bars here, the Azul, which serves modern Mediterranean cuisine with the accent on authentic Greek, Spanish, North African, French and Italian, under the watchful eye of chef Marc Innocenti, and accompanied by an extensive wine list of Mediterranean and New World wines. The Ocean Terrace restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet-style dining, and you can choose to dine al fresco on the large outdoor terrace or in the cool of the air-conditioning indoors. Martin’s Bar offers everything form delicious morning coffee to evening cocktails in a Caribbean atmosphere, while the Sunset Lounge & Bar is set on the west end of the Ocean Point and gives great views of the sunset while you sip a tropical fruit cocktail.
