General

Once a holding area for female prisoners arriving in Hobart, Rydges Hobart, part of the Rydges hotel group, is now a stylish, contemporary hotel, well located for exploring the lively town of Hobart. The hotel is a 20-minute drive from Hobart Airport (free parking is available), and within walking distance of the city’s business district.

Spa

The hotel has an outdoor pool, sauna and fitness centre.

Room Description

Guests can choose one of the 64 well-appointed rooms to suit their needs – from a manor king or twin, superior king or family to an antique suite or the trust cottage or presidential suite. All rooms provide comfortable beds, a kitchenette, internet access (fee payable), minibar and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Higher up the scale, the rooms are bigger and may provide extras such as a canopy-style bed, spa bath and separate dining area.

Activities

There’s plenty to see and do in the locale – everything from Salamanca Market and MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) to a trip to Historic Richmond, with its Georgian architecture, or the former penal colony of Port Arthur. For a chance to really fill your lungs with the famously fresh Hobart air, you can climb Mount Wellington.

Dining

The Manor Grill takes grill-style dining to the next level, using only local, seasonal ingredients. You can also take high tea in the restaurant – providing three tiers of delicious sandwiches, savouries and cakes. If you prefer, the hotel also supplies a room service menu. For a glass of the celebrated Tasmanian beer or wine, head to the Manor Bar, with its open fire.
