A 15-minute drive from the international airport, The former residence of the first Prime Ministe of Laos, the listed buildings of the Sala Prabang hotel are some of the finest examples of Luang Prabang’s colonial architecture. Accommodation at the Sala Prabang come sin the form of 49 riverside, studio and classic rooms spread over seven two-storey buildings, some with private balconies. All the rooms have air conditioning, ceiling fans and either double or twin beds, and are traditionally but comfortably furnished with natural stone, rosewood and bamboo, locally handcrafted furniture and crisp white bedlinen. The hotel’s USP is its wonderful location, minutes from all of the World Heritage Site’s wonderful attractions, and so it makes a great base for exploring all that Luang Prabang has to offer, from its temples and pagodas, restaurants, shops and markets.
The restaurant at Sala Prabang serves just breakfast, and the Lounge serves tea and coffee, but you have all of Luang Prabang’s excellent eateries right on the doorstep, which of course gives the perfect opportunity to sample local cuisine.
