Set high on the banks of Tanzania's Great Rufiji River, in the Selous Game Reserve, Rufiji River Camp offers stunning views, particularly at sunset, and an unspoiled location where you can relax and enjoy the sounds of bird song and hippos grunting. Built in a traditional style by local craftsmen, with palm roofs, this comfortable and attractive camp makes a great base from which to explore the stunning local wildlife.
There are 11 Classic Tents, with thatched roofs, en suite bathrooms with solar heated water, and huge verandas with river views, as well as three two-bedroomed suites, each of which has its own private plunge pool.
You'll want to spend much of your time out on game drives, spotting elephants, hunting dogs, buffalo, lions and antelopes, or perhaps taking a boating safari along the river to get closer to the hippos, crocodiles, monitor lizards and water birds. If you're feeling adventurous, join a fly-camping trip. Back at the camp itself, take a refreshing dip in the shaded swimming pool.
Enjoy delicious food as you dine al fresco beneath the stars, or sip a drink or two in the comfortable coffee lounge.
