The Zarafa Camp situated on a 1350km private reserve on the Selinda Spillway is built on a palm island in a sea of floodplain savannah. It combines luxury and adventure in an informal setting, and evokes a sense of old-style safari adventure. It’s also perfect for those wanting an intimate lodge experience with only four tents, hosting a maximum of eight guests. It’s 128km from Katima airport.
The camp offers just four vast and airy tented rooms set on polished, raised decks, with en-suite, open-air bathrooms. They’re kitten out with custom-made furniture handmade from recycled ancient hardwood, as well as a pair of binoculars and professional camera and lenses – any pictures guests take are presented to them on a CD when they leave.
Take a safari, for the chance to spot herds of elephants, prides of lions and packs of dogs. Night drives allow guests to see nocturnal species such as porcupine, springhare, hyena and even the elusive leopard. Fly-fishing, boat trips and kayaking can also be arranged. To relax, unwind
All meals are enjoyed in the well appointed ‘mess tent’.
