A WALK THROUGH TIME

On a walk through the town you visit the Agricultural Museum with its traditional windmill and the Folklore Museum which is situated in a beautiful 11th century house. Continue to the “House of Lena” where you see the style of furniture and personal belongings of the family. Right next door is the Nautical Museum with its model ships, interesting nautical instruments, ancient maps and the old light house of Armenistis.

After seeing all the sights you are taken to a traditional Greek restaurant for wine tasting. Learn all about the local vintages and try a selection accompanied by a traditional plate of appetizers. After the tasting you can stay on at the restaurant and enjoy a meal. Throughout this trip you will meet many of the locals who are rightly proud of their island and will tell you all about every day life here.

PILGRIMS PROGRESS

A visit to Tinos has become something of a pilgrimage, a virtual act of faith, for anyone staying in Mykonos. This island, some 45 minutes away by ferry, is home to one of the most famous and sacred churches in Greece, the Panagia Evangelistria, an awe-inspiring shrine atop a hill dominating Tinos town. This Renaissance-style church has been associated with miracles and wondrous deeds.

Then head to the quaint, whitewashed monastery of Kechrovouni, before continuing to the majestic mountain of Exomvourgo, with its castle ruins. Then stop at the gorgeous little hamlet of Volax, famous for its basket makers, before heading back to the pretty fishing village of Panormos. Final stop on the tour is the marble-producing hilltop village of Pyrgos. You return to Mykonos at around 10pm.
