You really will see all the stunning highlights of South America on this wonderful tour which takes you across three countries in 15 action packed days. Your adventure begins in Peru, where after exploring the capital Lima you will fly to Cusco and then travel to the famous lost Inca city of Machu Pichu. Then it's on to Argentina for a tour of Buenos Aires before visiting the stunning Iguazu Falls. Your final destination is Brazil and the colourful city of Rio de Janeiro where you will be taken to see all the iconic sights.

Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Lima

On arrival in the capital city of Peru you will be met at the airport by one of our tour representatives and driven to your hotel in the city. Here you can relax after the flight then go out and do some sightseeing on your own, eat at a local restaurant and get the flavour of the delights to come on your South American adventure.

Day 2: Lima and surroundings

After breakfast you will be picked up for a Lima city tour. Begin by looking at modern Lima, visiting the suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores. Then enjoy a great view of the Pacific Ocean, diving down the coastline on a cliff top road into colonial Lima to visit the city's historical centre seeing the Plaza Mayor, the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishops Palace, City Hall and the Desamparados Train Station. You then visit the San Francisco Monastery and its famous crypts known as the Catacombs. At the end of the tour you can shop at the Indian Market.

Day 3: Lima to Cusco

Today you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Cusco where you will be met and driven to your hotel. After lunch there is a tour starting with the Temple of the Sun, considered the most important religious centre of Inca times. Then you continue to the nearby archeological sites stopping at San Cristobal for a panoramic view of the city. Later you drive to amazing Sacsayhuaman and on the way back to the city visit the impressive Colonial Cathedral of Cusco.

Day 4: Along the Sacred Valley of the Incas

Your first stop is at the Awanacancha textile centre where we will be able to appreciate how the different local Andean communities use native animals to get the materials to produce beautiful sweaters, hats, scarfs and clothing. Then you will have a tour of Pisac archaeological complex, before continuing to Pisac market, and have lunch in Urubamba. Later drive to Ollantaytambo town and archaeological site before being taken to your hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Day 5: Machu Picchu

After an early breakfast you will travel be train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes where you will be met and taken by bus up to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the most important attractions of this wonder of the world. See the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar clock, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and the Royal Inca Cemeteries. The tour lasts about three hours and then you will have free time to explore on your own. Later return to Cusco by train

Day 6: Cusco at leisure

A free day to explore this fascinating Inca city and see more of the sights. Take a leisurely stroll through the picturesque colonial streets and sit at a cafe and watch the hustle and bustle of local life. There are great gifts and souvenirs that can be bought in the markets and you may also want to revisit some of the places and sights you saw on your organised city tour.

Day 7: Cusco to Lima and Buenos Aires

A busy day today as you leave Peru for Argentina. Maybe time for some last minute sightseeing or shopping before you are taken to the airport for your flight back to Lima where you will pick up your connecting flight to Buenos Aires. On arrival you will met and taken to your hotel and the evening is free for you to go out and explore in this beautiful city.

Day 8: Buenos Aires

Enjoy a half day city tour, visiting the most important areas. First stop is May Square, the site of the most important historical events and May Avenue, which is the oldest residential neighbourhood in Buenos Aires. Later live and feel the original Tango in La Boca, walk along Caminito street and enjoy the dancers and souvenir shops and see the Boca Junior soccer stadium. Later pass through the Retiro neighbourhood and Palermo, an exclusive residential area, before arriving at Recoleta Cemetery to see the final resting place of Eva Peron.

Day 9: Dinner and Tango Show

Today is free for you to do more sightseeing and shopping in Buenos Aires. In the evening enjoy a dinner and tango show at La Ventana which is located in the heart of San Telmo. La Ventana takes you back to older times. The interior architectural style has been preserved and creates an ideal setting for this unique experience with 32 performing artists, two tango orchestras, a folklore ensemble, dancers and singers, a menu of traditional and international cuisine and an exquisite list of Argentinean wines.

Day 10: Buenos Aires to Iguazu Falls

Today you are driven to the airport for your short flight to Iguazu where you will be met and taken on a half day tour. Situated in the Iguazu National Park, the Iguazu Falls enthrall visitors from all over the world. This huge series of waterfalls plunges through a gorge and they are wider than the Victoria Falls, higher than the Niagara Falls and are more beautiful than both as they create a never-ending spray of water and display of rainbows. You will have wonderful views of the Devil's Throat, the most powerful and spectacular of them all.

Day 11: Argentinean side of the falls

Enjoy a full day tour on the Argentinean side of the falls. Cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge over the Iguassu River, going past the Brazilian and Argentinean Custom Offices, before arriving at the Falls. You begin the tour by taking a train to the Devil's Throat trail, which is the biggest waterfall. After that, the tour continues on foot, going across the trails of the upper and lower circuit, where you'll have so many great close up views of the tumbling waters.

Day 12: Iguazu to Rio de Janeiro

Today you will be picked up at your hotel at Iguazu and driven back to the airport to catch your flight to Rio de Janeiro. More great views of the Falls from the aircraft as you head for Brazil. On arrival you will be met by one of our guides and taken to your hotel in Rio. The rest of the day and evening is free for you to explore this pulsating city with its colourful nightlife and unbelievable samba shows.

Day 13: Corcovado and Tijuca Forest

Enjoy a half day sightseeing tour taking in Corcovado and the Tijuca Atlantic Forest, the largest urban forest in the world. Stand next to the huge statue of Christ the Redeemer on the top of Corcovado Hill. From Corcovado you will have spectacular views of the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the Botanical Garden. This tour includes a short walk in a forest trail up to the Cascatinha Falls.

Day 14: Sugar Loaf and City Tour

Another half day tour of Rio. To understand the history of Brazil there is nothing better than a visit to the old city centre, where you will see attractions such as the Cinelandia Square with its Opera House, National Library and Fine Arts Museum. Other highlights include the Chamber of deputies, the former Imperial Palace, and the Candel ria Church. Afterwards you take the cable car to the top of the 396 meters high Sugar Loaf Mountain for more great views of the city.

Day 15: End of tour

Today your wonderful South American Highlights tour comes to an end. Possibly time for some more sightseeing or relaxing on one of the famous beaches and soaking up the sun before you are picked up at your hotel and taken to the airport to catch an onwward flight or begin your journey back home.
