This wonderful tour begins and ends in the capital city Lima, and for the best part of two weeks you will see all the highlights of this stunning country. On your travels you will soar over the mighty Andes like a Condor, sample life in the depths of the Amazon jungle, explore the golden city of Cusco, travel through the Sacred Valley, encounter the majesty of Machu Picchu, one of the wonders of the natural world, and head out into the deep blue waters of Late Titicaca. You will be escorted throughout the trip and experienced guides will make sure you get the most out of this great Latin American adventure.
You will be met at Lima Airport by one of our tour representatives and taken to your hotel where you will be briefed on all aspects of your travels in Peru. Lima is a friendly city and the rest of the day is yours to explore. Visit the affluent districts of Miraflores, Barranco and San Isidro on the coast and sample the good restaurants and nightlife which is within walking distance of your hotel.
After breakfast and a morning at leisure you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado where you prepare for your Amazon adventure. Pack lightly, leaving the rest of your luggage in a safe deposit before boarding your boat at the Tambopata River Port. After a 45 minute boat trip you will arrive at your private forest reserve at Posada Amazonas, in the heart of the rain forest.
After a 20 minute walk from your lodge base at Posadas Amazonas you reach Parrot Clay Lick, where dozens of parrots and parakeets descend on the river bank every morning. Later take a two hour hike in the rain forest where you will see the wildlife and here about the area's history. Then you will take a boat down river and see life on a local farm.
After breakfast you say farewell to the Amazon and return to Puerto Maldonado for your flight to Cusco. You will be met at the airport and taken to your hotel where there will be a comprehensive briefing about your stay in the area. The rest of the day is at leisure giving you the chance to explore the city and gradually acclimatise to the dramatic change of altitude.
Your guided city tour begins in the afternoon with visits to the impressive Colonial Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun. You will then be taken to the outskirts of the city to see the impressive archaeological site of Sacsayhuaman later visiting the ruins of Puca Pucara. Cusco is a gem of a city and has beautiful squares, cobbled streets and a lively atmosphere.
Today you have free time to shop for souvenirs or visit more museums and churches. This beautiful colonial town has cobbled stone streets and a lively atmosphere. For the more adventurous there is horseback riding, white water rafting on the Urubamba River and mountain biking down to the Sacred Valley.
You will travel with a local guide through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit the impressive Pisac ruins and the colourful artisan market. The day trip ends in the picturesque village of Ollantaytambo, site of another big Inca ruin. The town and fortress are situated overlooking the beautiful Urubamba River Valley. Spend the night here.
Today is probably the highlight of the whole tour when you visit the breathtaking ruins of Machu Picchu. Board the train which winds through the Urubamba Valley to the end of the line at Aquas Calientes beneath Machu Picchu. In the afternoon enjoy a two hour guided tour of the famous Inca ruins then stay for the rest of the day exploring before returning to your hotel at Aquas Calientes.
Today you have the option to rise early & experience sunrise over Machu Picchu, the best time to see the Lost City or climp up Wayna Picchu for fantastic birds eye views over the ruins and the surrounding cloud forest.( this must be prebooked before trave & does not include entrance fees). End the day by taking the train back to Cusco which allows great views of the spectacular scenery. In Cusco you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Today is another free day for you to make the most out of the beautiful and lively city. Plenty of opportunities for more souvenir shopping and visits to the archaeological sites and museums and there is also the horseback riding, white water rafting on the Urubamba River and mountain biking down to the Sacred Valley options available.
Today you board the Incan Express bus and travel through the Andean Highlands to Lake Titicaca with tours of Rachi, Andahuayillas and la Raya on route. The drive is beautiful but there is an option to upgrade and take a first class train through the high Altiplano region offering great views of the stark yet beautiful countryside.
Today you head out into the deep clear blue waters of Lake Titicaca to visit the magnificent floating islands of Uros, as well as exploring the paths of Isla Taquile which is filled with quaint little houses and cobbled streets. Titicaca is the biggest lake in the world above 2,000m and the views are stunning. Overnight at your hotel in Puno.
After watching the amazing spectacle of dawn breaking over the lake the morning is at leisure before taking your flight back to Lima. Make a short detour on the way to the airport to visit the funeral towers of Sillustani. On arrival in Lima you will be met by one of our representatives who will transfer you to your hotel
