There are so many ways to tour Peru but there is no better option than this three week Peru Highlights trip. Starting and ending in the capital city Lima this comprehensive tour takes in ALL the country's highlights. You will visit Machu Picchu, the beautiful Lost City of the Incas, the golden city of Cusco, travel through the Sacred Valley, see the mysterious Nazca Lines, explore the Colca Canyon, take a boat on lake Titicaca and enjoy thrilling days and a night in the Amazon jungle. This wonderful tour is the ultimate in Latin American adventures.
On arrival in Lima you will be met by one of our representatives and taken to your hotel and given a comprehensive briefing about all your travels in Peru. Time for some exploration of the city possibly visiting the affluent districts of Miraflores, Barranco and San Isidro, which are on the coast. Dinner in one of the excellent restaurants.
Leave early morning for your journey south into the southern sands of Peru. You will be taken to the bus station for your trip to the town of Ica. On arrival at your hotel you can take a dune buggy ride to the oasis of Huacachina or just chill out in this fascinating region
Today you travel through the coastal desert to Nazca. The area was once home to the Paracas and Nazca cultures, which preceded the Incas. Remains of Nazca culture can be seen during a tour of Chauchilla where there is a remarkable pre-Inca cemetery.
This city is well known for the Nazca lines, that consists of patterns and pictures etched in the ground, crisscrossing a wide area of flat desert. The depictions of birds, insects and animals are only recognizable from the air. Who drew the lines, and why, is something modern archaeologists can only theorize about, but current beliefs suggest that they may be part of complex agricultural calendar. That night we catch the long but quite comfortable night bus to Arequipa.
After checking into your hotel in Arequipa, the White City, you can enjoy the laid back colonial atmosphere of the city. The main plaza with its cathedral and cafes is a top draw for visitors. Spectacular mountains surround the city, the most famous of which is El Misti Volcano. In the evening dine at one of many fine restaurants.
Early pick up for a journey into Colca Canyon, stopping at various lookouts with the chance of seeing the Andean Condor in flight. Stop for lunch at Chivay and in the afternoon there is a short guided walk into the canyon. In the valley visit the Medicinal Baths and Thermal Springs where you can relax and swim before returning to your hotel.
Leave early to spend more time in the canyon. Travel a rough road through high plains flanked by extensive Inca terracing. The canyon itself is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon and everywhere the views are spectacular, particularly at El Mirador. In the evening return to Chivay and spend the night in the canyon.
After breakfast you will be picked up and taken by road to Puno, on the shores of stunning Lake Titicaca. The remainder of the day is free to relax at your hotel on the shores of the lake then watching the impressive sunset over Titicaca's deep blue waters.
Take a two hour cruise on the lake and visit the floating islands of the Uros. The ancient inhabitants of the lake have built reed islands using the material to make their homes and boats. You are then taken to Taquile where you spend the night in the house of a local islander waking to see a spectacular dawn over the world's biggest lake above 2,000m.
After breakfast with the islanders you will have time to stroll through the quaint streets of the colourful island before taking the motor boat back to Puno where you will stay overnight. Try dinner at one of the many local restaurants in town.
Board the Inka Express bus for the journey through the Andean highlands to the golden city of Cusco with tours of Rachi, Andahuayillas and la Raya on the way. You may upgrade this journey by taking a first class train journey to Cusco crossing the stark and beautiful Altiplano region.
After a morning of relaxing in this lovely city your sightseeing tour begins with a visit to the impressive Colonial Cathedral and the temple of the Sun. From here you are taken to the outskirts of the city to the archaeological site of Sacsayhuaman. Cusco is a beautiful colonial city with cobbled streets, squares, museums and churches and has a lively atmosphere.
Today is free for more sightseeing or shopping for souvenirs and experiencing the sights and sounds of this marvellous city. The more adventurous may like to choose from a number of optional activities including horseback riding, white water rafting or mountain biking around the ancient sites or in the Urubamba River valley.

Today you have more free time in this wonderful friendly city. There are plenty of colourful local markets making it a great place for souvenir shopping and the central plaza has many fine restaurants. The activity options are still available for the more energetic.
Today you fly like a Condor over the Andes to Puerto Maldonado, gateway to the Amazon. Here you will be met and taken by boat up the river to Posada Amazonas which will be your rain forest home for the next two nights.
