Secluded within the misty emerald vegetation of the Mashpi Rainforest Biodiversity Reserve, this brand new, truly unique and sustainable jungle hideaway in Ecuador respects the environment without comprising comfort and convenience. The cosy lodge blends beautifully with its natural surroundings and sits on a high plateau offering magical views of the forest and valleys. Just a three hour drive from the capital city Quito, this short break makes a great add on to any holiday in South America.
Your adventure begins when you are picked up at your hotel in Quito and driven the three hours to Mashpi, with a stop at the Tulipe Observatory on the way. When you arrive at the entrance of Mashpi Reserve, you board buggies which take you up to the lodge. After lunch, visit the Butterfly Vivarium and go bird watching at a lek. Then return to the luxurious lodge for special relaxing spa treatments and dinner.
In the morning, explore the rain forest canopy on the Aerial Tram. Then options include a jungle walk and or a refreshing dip in the Mashpi River. Later you visit plantations and harvest regional produce, which will be prepared for your lunch at Casa Campesina by a local family. In the afternoon travel back to the lodge via the Aerial Tram and relax in the beautiful cloud forest surroundings before enjoying a delicious dinner.
Today after breakfast you leave the lodge in the electric buggies to visit the fascinating community-run Tree Nursery before leaving the reserve. Then board the vans to drive to the spectacular Pululahua Crater where you enjoy lunch. Visit the Centre of the World before continuing your journey back to Quito where this wonderful tour comes to an end.
