Now, get the best of both worlds by exploring an active volcano in the Galapagos Islands, together with day trips to rewarding visitor sites of the National Park & Marine Reserve. Get ready for one of the most highly anticipated voyages in the Galapagos

Day 1
Ecuador to the Galapagos

Your adventure begins when you catch a flight Fly from Ecuador’s mainland to Baltra Island on the Galapagos. Then take a scenic flight to Isabela Island and check in at Scalesia Lodge where you have lunch before beginning your first afternoon of discovery. Get to know the youngest side of the archipelago while exploring visitor sites in the National Park, wetland lagoons, and the giant tortoise-breeding centre. End the day at the stunning white beach of Puerto Villamil before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Day 2
Sierra Negra Volcano and beach-combing

Enjoy an early breakfast before setting out to explore Isabela Island and its top feature, the Sierra Negra Volcano. Walk along the rim of the world’s second largest caldera and see recent volcanic activity and the resulting fascinating formations. A light snack will be provided along the way while lunch is served back at the lodge. Then take a stroll along the beach at Puerto Villamil and relax in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Scalesia Lodge.

Day 3
Isabela Island-land & sea exploration

Today you get to know both the National Park and the Marine Reserve, each with its own unique features. After breakfast, start out at the Tintoreras visitor site, a small group of islets reachable only by boat, to watch reef sharks in their natural habitat, intertidal organisms, marine iguanas, and a colony of Galapagos penguins. Lunch at the lodge and later in the in the day explore the history of Isabela Island at the Wall of Tears visitor site. Sunsets at Puerto Villamil are spectacular. Dinner and overnight at Scalesia Lodge

Day 4
Fly back to Santa Cruz

After breakfast you will be driven to Puerto Villamil’s airport where a short, but interesting flight brings you back to Baltra, where you board Yacht Sea Lion for a short cruise to North Seymour Island. Marvel at the sight of Galapagos sea lions and fur seals, blue-footed boobies and frigate birds. Torchwood trees and prickly pears, pillow lava boulders and white sand add to an unforgettable landscape. Lunch on board the yacht before an afternoon sailing to Santa Cruz Island and the Finch Bay Eco Hotel.

Day 5
Highlands of Santa Cruz Island

Start the day with the Finch Bay’s generous breakfast, featuring local and international favourites, before leaving for El Manzanillo. Located in the loftier region of the island, Manzanillo is within the natural path of one of the species of giant tortoises. A short walk will lead you to the grazing grounds and water ponds where these giant reptiles wallow in pools. The cooler highlands are also home to many land birds, plants and trees exclusive to these islands. Stop briefly at the Twin Craters and have lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon, we will stop at a local sustainable ranch before returning to enjoy the hotel facilities. You are free for dinner

Day 6
Sail to Santa Fe Island

Board Yacht Sea Lion near the hotel at Academy Bay and cruise to Santa Fe. After a wet landing on a fantastic white sandy beach among basking sea lions, you walk along rocky terrain to find the endemic Santa Fe land iguana patiently waiting under the enormous giant cacti for falling fruits. Other species you see today are pelicans, boobies and the the Galapagos Hawk. Return to the yacht for lunch then enjoy one of Galapagos best snorkelling sites. Tonight there are cocktails around the pool at Finch Bay Eco Hotel.

Day 7
Tortuga Bay, Playa Brava, Playa Mansa

Today you travel to Tortuga Bay. Arrive at Playa Brava, a stunning long snow-white beach which is a seasonal nesting site for the green sea turtles. A few minutes further, you reach Playa Mansa, a secluded natural mangrove cove, with clear and tranquil waters, ideal for swimming, snorkelling and kayaking. Then take a small yacht to sail back to the hotel. Lunch at Finch Bay and for the afternoon, the grand finale includes strolling around the Charles Darwin Research Station seeing the iconic giant tortoises.

Flew to Quito

We forgot to check In online for the return journey. Assumed we couldn't, only to find all 6 seats apart from 2 dotted all over the plane for flight from Bogota to London.

Don't use Iberia for long flights. It was very poor.

Flew to Quito

Gavin always understands exactly what I want, and delivers. Quick, no fuss, good price and the reassurance of actually talking to a real person! Recommended flights were excellent (Avianca) though some people may find the food limited - good quality, but not a great quantity. As I have a small appetite, this wasn't a problem for me. Otherwise, perfect.
