Description

There's nowhere else in the world quite like Cuba, and this tour takes you to the heart of the country's wonderfully preserved colonial cities, as well as into its lush countryside. You'll eat in excellent local restaurants, visit museums, fortresses and a cigar factory, and have plenty of free time to sip a rum cocktail or two.

Day 1
Havana

Your Cuban adventure begins as you arrive at the airport in Havana and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2
Havana

After breakfast this morning you'll join a tour of the lively city of Havana. You'll visit locations including Colon Cemetery, Plaza Vieja and Plaza de Armas and the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, the former residence of the governors of Havana, now the city's museum. After lunch at a local restaurant you'll have some time at leisure before a visit to the Morro-Cabaña fortress, followed by dinner in a neighbouring restaurant.

Day 3
Viñales Valley

After breakfast this morning you'll set off for a day trip to Viñales Valley, stopping en route at a cigar factory to learn more about this famous Cuban industry. In Viñales you'll take a boat trip through the Indio cave system before a visit to the stunning Mural de la Prehistoria, a huge, brightly coloured mural depicting the history of the prehistoric world from the earliest sea creatures, to dinosaurs, to humans. After lunch at a local restaurant you'll continue to Soroa to visit the wonderful Orchid Gardens and waterfalls. You'll then return to Havana for dinner at your hotel and will have the rest of the evening at leisure to enjoy the city's famous nightlife.

Day 4
Havana – Santa Clara

You'll check out of your hotel after breakfast this morning and depart for the city of Santa Clara. On the outskirts of Havana you'll stop at Finca La Vigia, once the home of Ernest Hemingway and now a museum devoted to his life, then continue to Cojimar, the setting for Hemingway's Nobel Prize-winning novel The Old Man and the Sea. Here you'll have lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Santa Clara and checking into your hotel.

Day 5
Santa Clara – Cienfuegos – Trinidad

This morning you'll enjoy a guided tour of Santa Clara, including a visit to the Che Guevara Memorial and Tren Blindado ("armoured train"), a national monument and museum of the Cuban Revolution. You'll then head to Cienfuegos for lunch and a visit to the Thomas Terry Theatre, before continuing to Trinidad, where you'll enjoy dinner at your hotel and an evening at leisure.

Day 6
Trinidad

After breakfast this morning you'll enjoy a city tour of Trinidad, including visits to the Cantero Palace museum and La Canchánchara bar, renowned for its house cocktail of rum, honey, lemon and water. You'll have lunch at a local restaurant, then have the afternoon at leisure before returning to your hotel for dinner.

Day 7
Trinidad – Camaguey

This morning you'll depart for Valley de los Ingenios ("Valley of the Sugar Mills"), stopping along the way at Manaca Iznaga Tower, from the top of which you can enjoy stunning views of the valley, a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site. You'll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Camaguey for a sightseeing tour, followed by dinner at your hotel and an evening at leisure.

Day 8
Camaguey – Bayamo – El Cobre – Santiago de Cuba

You'll leave Camaguey after breakfast this morning, stopping first at Bayamo city, where you'll enjoy a spot of sightseeing and lunch at a local restaurant. You'll also stop at the National Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Charity, dedicated to Cuba's patron saint, before continuing to Santiago de Cuba and checking in to your hotel, where you'll enjoy dinner before an evening at leisure.

Day 9
Santiago de Cuba

This morning you'll tour the main sights of Santiago de Cuba, including Antonio Maceo Square, Museum of July 26, Cespedes Square and the Morro Castle, a well-preserved 17th-century Spanish fortress. After lunch in a local restaurant you'll have the afternoon free to continue exploring, hit the shops or just relax before dinner at your hotel and the evening at leisure.

Day 10
Santiago – Havana

After breakfast this morning you'll transfer to Santiago airport for your flight back to Havana, where you'll have the rest of the day and the evening at leisure.

Day 11
Havana – London

You'll have a final morning at leisure in Havana today – a perfect chance to pick up some last-minute gifts or souvenirs, before transferring either to the airport for your flight home or to your next destination if you're extending your stay in Cuba.

Everything was well organised, all transfers were on time, high quality and stress free. DialAFlight reps abroad were helpful and accommodation was as described prior to holiday. I would always use DialAFlight now to advise and book holidays. I recommend to friends and family

Air Europa flights have very limited food and entertainment options. Lacto-Ovo meals are an odd mix of side salads and vegan food. Meat options include vegetarian food (just so you are aware). Would not fly with Air Europa again. DialAFlight were very helpful however.

Just wanted to say what a great time I had. All the things I’d booked were handled very professionally. I was literally met right off the plane, before even going through passport control. Hotel was great and pool area at the top brilliant. Hotel staff were lovely. Havana is a really interesting place - cars are astonishing and and I felt totally safe. Can definitely recommend it and would go again to travel round the island. Thanks for another great trip Travis! I’ll be in touch.
