You will see the very best of Colombia on this short two centre trip to Cartagena and the Rosario Islands. Located on Colombia's northern coast and facing the Caribbean Sea, Cartagena is the most visited city in the country and has two main areas where tourists go - the walled colonial city, which is truly amazing and has many fancy restaurants, clubs and hotels and a long beach front known as Bocagrande. The nearby Rosario Islands are a magnificent private archipelago where you can spend time relaxing in the national park and swimming in the pristine Caribbean waters.
On arrival at Cartagena airport you will be met by one of our tour representatives and driven to your hotel in the city. The rest of the day is free for you to discover this wonderful city by exploring on your own. Wander through the cobbled streets and the colonial alleyways then relax and enjoy a cool fruit juice from a street vendor or a coffee in an atmospheric cafe before sampling the pulsating nightlife.
Cartagena is a fascinating place to spend time. There are great opportunities for people watching during the bustling and sultry heat of the day as the local Costenons go about their daily life of work and play in this vibrant city. As the sun sets the city takes on a different beat. Few cities have such a dramatic change as the day turns to night and the rhythms of Salsa and Cumbia reverberate from every doorway. Cartagena is a truly romantic place after dark.
Today you are taken to the dock to catch a boat to Hotel Punta Faro on Isla Mucura. The Rosario Islands are made up of 23 separate coral islands and are one of the 46 Natural National Parks of Colombia. The boat trip takes around an hour and the route takes you through the Bahia de Cartagena and into the open sea through the Bocachica strait, and passing between the colonial forts of Bateria de San Jose and Fuerte de San Fernando.
Enjoy a wonderful relaxing day in Punta Faro where you will find activities for every age group. There are water sports, playgrounds, scuba diving, ecological walks, beach volleyball and football. Relax on the beach, walk around the islands or alternatively enjoy a relaxing massage, a yoga session, recreational activities for the kids, or the simple pleasure of a freshly made cocktail at the beach bar.
Today you are picked up from your hotel and taken back by boat to Cartagena where the tour comes to an end. You can stay on in this exciting Columbian city for a few more days or head to the airport to catch an onward flight or begin your journey home. This short tour makes a great add on to any holiday in South America.
