Description

Brazil is one of the world’s most captivating countries and South America’s giant, a dazzling mixture of powdery white-sand beaches, pristine rain forests and wild, rhythm-filled cities. Attractions range from from enchanting, frozen-in-time colonial towns to dramatic landscapes of red-rock canyons, thundering waterfalls and idyllic tropical islands. Add to that, Brazil’s diverse ecosystems which boast the greatest collection of plant and animal species found anywhere on earth. On this eight day tour you will see and do so much in this spectacular country enjoying the triple delights of visiting Rio De Janeiro, Salvador and the mighty Igussau Falls.

Day 1
Rio De Janeiro

On arrival in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil's livelist city, you will be met at the airport and driven to your selected hotel. A bilingual guide will meet all passengers right after customs clearance and the hotel transfer will take around 45 minutes. En route you will be given some basic briefs about the city and suggestions on what you might want to see and do as the rest of the day and evening is free for you to explore on your own.

Day 2
Rio

A morning visit to Sugar Loaf for a welcoming caipirinha toast on top of Urca Hill. More than a million tourists each year visit the world famous Sugar Loaf Mountain, which has become an iconic symbol of the city. The journey to the top is made in glass cable-cars where you have spectacular views of the entire bay and its surrounding islands. From the top you can see Botafogo and Copacabana Beaches, Corcovado and downtown Rio. Before returning to the hotel, you go on a panoramic tour of the downtown area, stopping by the Municipal Theatre and the Cathedral to see some of the well kept secrets of Old Rio. The rest of the day is a leisure.

Day 3
Rio

Today is free for you to explore this pulsating city on your own. After breakfast at the hotel you can relax on one of the famous beaches watching the locals play soccer and volleyball as you soak up the hot sun or take one of a number of optional tours that are available. One unmissable trip is up to Corcovado, where you stand beside the famous statue of Christ and get wonderful panoramic views over the city.

Day 4
Rio to Iguassu Falls

After breakfast you will be taken to the airport to catch a short flight to Iguassu Falls where you will be met and taken to your hotel. In the afternoon visit the Brazilian side of the falls with a trip that begins at the Iguaçu National Park with a drive through lush subtropical vegetation. Take a stroll on the trail that descends down the canyon, to offer panoramic views of more than 240 falls. Then take a glass elevator up the cliff face for an exquisite view from the upper deck. The Iguassu National Park, along with its sister park in Argentina, have been declared a National Heritage Site by UNESCO. The tour ends with a visit to the artisans fair.

Day 5
Iguassu Falls

A morning visit to the Argentinean side of the falls. You cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge heading towards the Iguaçu National Park in Argentina. At the entrance, a small train takes visitors on a tour through the park, making two stops. Follow the pathways to the top of the waterfalls that provide spectacularly unique views of the Cataratas. Here you are surrounded by orchids, colourful birds and other wildlife. The highlight of the tour is a visit to the suspended platform at the very brink of the Devil’s Throat – the largest fall in the park.

Day 6
Iguassu Falls to Salvador

Today after breakfast at the hotel you are taken to the airport to catch your flight to Salvador. After takeoff you could get more amazing views of the falls from the air. On arrival in Salvador you will be met at the airport by one of our tour representatives and driven the 40 minutes to your hotel. The rest of the day and evening is free for you to go out and explore and try one of the local restaurants.

Day 7
Salvador

You are taken on a visit to Lower Salvador. This tour offers another perspective of the sprawling city taking you to the quiet waters of the Itapagipe Peninsula where life moves at a slower pace than the bustling upper city. Fishermen fish from dug out canoes, locals collect shellfish, schooners lie at anchor, all protected by the famous Bonfim church, one of the most important churches of pilgrimage in Brazil. You continue to the Monserrat district with its great view of the city and on to the Mercado Modelo, a thriving market for local goods and souvenirs. During the tour you will stop at a well-known food stand to taste one of the most famous Bahian street food the Acaraje - deep fried rolls prepared with shrimp, black-eyed peas, red chilli pepper, onion and garlic.

Day 8
End of tour

Today your short but exciting Brazil tour comes to an end. You can extend your holiday by staying on in Salvador or if you are leaving there may be time for some more last minute sightseeing or shopping before you are taken to the airport for your onward flight or to begin your journey home.

Sal was very helpful helping me get the best flight for the best price, at a very difficult time due to the loss of a family member.
