Your wonderful Indian Panorama rail tour begins when you board the Maharaja Express in the capital city Delhi and begin the journey to Jaipur. After a traditional welcome and the completion of registration formalities sit back, relax and admire the views as the train rolls out of Delhi. Tonight the first of many sumptuous meals are served in the plush restaurant car.
After breakfast you arrive in Jaipur, the beautiful Pink City and gateway to colourful Rahjasthan. Your first visit here is the Amber Fort, which you can reach on the back of an elephant, followed by an elephant polo match with lunch at an exclusive venue. In the afternoon you can enjoy optional activities including a spa treatment, shopping, golf or a visit to the famous Palace of the Winds. Tonight's dinner is back on board the train.
Leave the train today and take an exciting game drive into the Ranthambore National Park to see the legendary tigers. After lunch back on board the train stops so you can visit the amazing abandoned red sandstone city of Fatehpur Sikri. Visit the Sikri fort and see all the sights and learn the fascinating history of the place. Then return to the Maharaja Express for another sumptuous dinner.
One of the highlights of the journey today when you arrive at Agra for a visit to the exquisite Taj Mahal followed by a champagne breakfast. This beautiful white marble architectural wonder never fails to amaze the visitor. Continue to Gwalior and enjoy lunch at the 120 year old Usha Kiran Palace, followed by a tour of the magnificent Gwalior Fort and opulent Jai Vilas Palace Museum with high tea in the palace compounds. Dinner tonight is back aboard the train.
After the delights of the stunning Taj Mahal and Gwalior and another comfortable night on board, this morning the Maharaja Express rolls into Orchha where you visit the be-jewelled Jahangiri Mahal. Then continue to have a tour around the World Heritage temples of Khajuraho. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is again included in your luxury train tour package.
Today the train arrives at Varanasi and you are taken on a tour of the holy city including the ancient ruins of Sarnath, Varanasi Silk Weaving Centre and a highlight of the day, a scenic cruise on the sacred Ganges River. Here you can witness the magical evening Aarti on the Ghats of the Ganges. Have your camaera ready to capture some of the magical sights. Dinner is once again back in the restaurant car of the Maharaja Express.
Welcome to the enchanted City of Nawabs, Lucknow. After breakfast on the train you are taken to tour the Rumi Darwaza and the spectacular Bada lmambara. Opt to explore the bustling markets of this royal city then experience the elegance and charm of traditional hospitality during an exclusive dinner and relish the famed Awadhi cuisine that comes out of the Royal Kitchen.
Today your memorable eight day journey on the Maharaja Express comes to an end when the train arrives back into Delhi.
