There is simply no more stylish, relaxing or sophisticated way to travel between Venice and London than on board the Venice Simplon-Orient Express. It's wall to wall luxury the moment you board this world famous train and nothing can prepare you for this once-in-a-lifetime experience as you travel across Europe. From the 1920s to the ‘30s the carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express played a significant role in the Golden Age of travel and today every carriage has been lovingly restored to its former glory, recreating one of the finest luxury travel experiences the world has ever known. You can take this trip from Venice to London or enjoy the same itinerary in reverse.
Board the splendid Wagons-Lits carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express at Venice Santa Lucia station beside the Grand Canal. Once you have settled in it is time for lunch in one of the beautifully restored restaurant cars. Spend the afternoon relaxing in the comfort of your cabin gazing at the beautiful passing scenery of the Italian Dolomites and the Swiss Alps, or chatting with fellow travellers in the Bar Car. Soon it’s time to dress for dinner, sip an aperitif in the Bar Car, and listen to the sounds of the baby grand piano before taking your seat in another of the magnificent restaurant cars. A leisurely four course dinner is served, prepared on board by skilled French chefs. After dinner you can linger in the bar and when you are ready, retire to your cabin which has now been transformed into a cosy bedroom.
Breakfast is served in your cabin by your steward. Later this morning, the train pulls into Paris Gare de l’Est. Take the opportunity to stretch your legs along the platform and watch the chefs selecting fresh produce for today’s menus. A delicious brunch is served in the restaurant as you travel on towards the Channel. All too soon, it is time to disembark and leave the continental train behind. At Calais Ville your hostesses will escort you on the coach transfer to the Shuttle service and through the Channel tunnel to Folkestone where you join the Pullman train for the journey to London. A three course lunch, accompanied by a glass of champagne, is served as you watch the gentle scenery of Kent pass by. Suddenly, you are drawing into London’s Victoria station. It may be the end of your journey but the memories will last a lifetime.
