This eight-day yachting adventure is a wonderful introduction to France's gorgeous Cote d'Azur. Taking in the opulent resorts of Cannes and St Tropez, as well as the unspoilt natural paradise of the Îles d’Hyères Archipelago, it's the perfect choice for anyone in need of a touch of sophisticated rest and relaxation.
Your adventure begins as you arrive in Nice. If you arrive early, you may want to relax in one of the many cafes, visit a museum or just relax on the beach until you board your yacht in the afternoon and meet your crew and shipmates.
Your first destination is the Iles de Lérins, a group of four islands just off the coast of Cannes, including Ille St Marguerite, featured in the story of The Man in the Iron Mask. When you arrive in glamorous Cannes, you can walk the red carpet on a tour of the Palais des Festivals or take a tour to the Massif de I’Esterel and either walk or ride through the forest to enjoy the beautiful views of the Cap.
Today's destination is St Tropez, the former fishing village which is now a popular destination for the rich and famous. Pampelonne Beach is the place to head for relaxation, watersports and perhaps some celebrity spotting. If you'd like to see a glimpse of the old St Tropez, pay a visit to the old fishing quarter of La Ponche, with its traditional pastel-coloured homes and cobbled streets. There are also a number of well-marked coastal walking trails which offer spectacular views. This evening, you may want to sample some of Saint-Tropez's famous nightlife.
Today's visit to Cavalaire-sur-Mer has something for everyone, whether you want to top up your tan on the white-sand beach, try some exhilarating watersports or make the most of the stunning coastal walks and cycling paths. In the evening, relax in the bars and restaurants around the harbour and enjoy a delicious plateau de fruits de mer.
Sit back and relax today, as you sail along the Cote d'Azur to the Îles d’Hyères archipelago. Legend has it that, in ancient times, a group of princesses were out for a swim when the gods turned them into these picturesque islands. The rocks here contain a high propertion of mica, which glitters in the sunlight, hence their nickname, the Îles d’Or, or Islands of Gold.
Today you'll visit the smallest island of the archipelago, Ile de Port-Cros. This tiny island crams a lot of history into a small space: Roman coins and tombs have been discovered here, a monastery was established here in the 5th century, and the 16th century saw raids by Barbary pirates. In 1963 the island became France’s first marine national park, rich in flora and fauna and a snorkelling paradise.
Today you'll explore the largest of the islands, a national park and one of the most environmentally protected areas in the Mediterranean. Since automobiles are banned here, you may like to hire a bike to explore this haven for nature and tranquillity, or just lie back and relax on one of the white sandy beaches.
Today you'll leave the yacht and transfer to Marseille, where your adventure comes to an end.
