Day 1: Yarra Valley Wineries and Puffing Billy

Departs: Melbourne 8.20 am - Returns:5.30 pm Journey into the prosperous heart of picturesque wine country to the Yarra Valley. En route visit beautiful Sherbrooke Forest, home to lyrebirds and the crimson rosella, cockatoos and kookaburras - look out for these native birds. Enjoy a traditional morning tea of Aussie billy tea, Lamingtons and vegemite crackers. Ride the restored Puffing Billy Steam Train through the towering mountain ash and beautiful lush fern gullies of Sherbrooke Forest. Relax as you sample superb regional wines and take in stunning views of the vineyard. Tour through the Yarra Valley and enjoy your lunch break at Fergusson Winery (lunch not included). Tantalize your taste buds at Dominique Portet Winery where you may sample and buy a selection of quality local wines. Enjoy a winemaking tour of the highly regarded Domaine Chandon, maker of one of Australia's best sparkling wines, sip a glass of wine and enjoy local cheeses on the patio while soaking up views of the beautiful Yarra Valley from the Greenpoint Room.
