Fraser Island stretches more than 100 miles in length and 20 miles at its widest point and with an area of 184,000 hectares it is the largest sand island in the world. This stunning World Heritage site ranks with Australia's Uluru, Kakadu and the Great Barrier Reef and is a precious part of Australia's natural and cultural heritage. Today it is protected for all to appreciate and on this two day trip you will be able to see its exceptional beauty. Fraser Island, with its crystal clear lakes, is also the only place in the world where tall rain forests grow on sand dunes.
You will be picked up from your Hervey Bay hotel in Southern Queensland and taken by coach to River Heads, where the tour departs. An early 50 minute barge sailing to Fraser Island. On arrival discover the island's ancient rain forests before lunch at Eurong Beach Resort. Visit Lake McKenzie and take a dip in the crystal blue waters. Buffet dinner tonight back at the resort
Today you have a ranger guided eco tour of the island. Drive along Seventy Five Mile Beach ocean highway and stop for a swim at Eli Creek. After a barbecue lunch visit the Pinnacles and coloured sands and climb Indian Head for panoramic views. Then take an early evening cruise back to the mainland for a drop off at your hotel.
