Following its miraculous development over the past 50 years, Korea has become a modernised vibrant nation, but one that still maintains its traditional and colourful culture. And on this fascinating and comprehensive five day tour, which begins and ends in the buzzing capital city of Seoul, you will get to see so many of the stunning highlights. This short trip makes a great add on to any longer in this exotic country.
Your adventure begins when you are picked up from your hotel in the capital city for the journey to Gongju. Here you visit the Tomb of King Muryeong and Gongsanseong Fortress. Travel on to Buyeo, an ancient capital, and stop at a palace, castle and cultural hall. Then visit Goransa Temple and Nakhwaam bluff by boat where 3,000 court ladies plunged into the river to avoid being captured on the last day of the Kingdom. Carry on to Jeonju and stop at a village to see traditional Korean houses. Then drive to Gwangju where you stay tonight.
Today after breakfast you are taken on a tour of Gwangju, a city at the centre of Asian culture, and visit the fascinating museum. Then drive on stopping for a refreshing cuppa at the Bosung Green Tea Plantation before reaching Suncheon where you visit the temple and ecological park. Your final destinations today is Yeosu, but before checking into your hotel there is a visit to the local fish market.
Today you visit Jinsuseong Castle, which is historically linked to the Japanese invasion in 1592, before moving on to Busan and then Jagalchi where you visit the Fishery Market, Korea’s largest seafood market. Later make a stop at Shinsegae Department Store then enjoy a relaxing trip to Haeundae Beach before continuing to Gyeongju, where you check into your hotel. The rest of the evening is free for you to explore on your own.
After breakfast enjoy a Gyeongju City tour then move on to the Andong Hahoe Folk Village which has preserved the architecture and structure of the Joseon Dynasty. It became world-famous for the visit of our Queen Elizabeth some years ago. Then continue to Wonju that stands in a spectacular location beside the Chiaksan Mountain and the Seom River and maintains a rich tradition and cultural relics. Check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening.
An action packed last day of the tour. Visit Pyeongchang, the venue for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games and carry on to Seongyojang, known for wide pine forests, clean sandy beaches and crystal blue seas. Then travel to Mt. Seorak National Park where mountains break through the clouds and jade-like water flows through valleys, creating breathtaking views and making this Korea's most famous national park. Take a cable car to Gwongeumseong fortress and visit Shinheungsa Temple. Then begin the drive back to Seoul where your tour ends.
