The Mekong river is famous for its picturesque scenery, with lush countryside and innumerable traditional farms and small villages. Beginning in Luang Prabang, in northern Laos, this two-day cruise is a perfect introduction to this stunning part of the world, as well as a great way to relax and get away from it all. You'll travel on a 34-metre Luang Say boat with a maximum capacity of 40 people, which boasts comfortable seating and delicious Laotian cuisine.
An early start this morning as you set off at 7am, enjoying a continental breakfast on board. Your first stop will be Pak Ou caves, where you can admire the thousands of images of the Buddha. Back on board, you'll enjoy a buffet lunch and a chance to relax and watch the world go by until you stop for a second time at Ban Baw to watch traditional rice alcohol being produced. You'll then continue to Luang Say Lodge, where you can watch the sunset as you enjoy dinner on a terrace overlooking the river.
You'll enjoy an early breakfast in the lodge this morning, before setting off for your second day of relaxed cruising. You'll stop just once today, at the village of Ban Houy Phalam, where you'll have the chance to learn more about the local way of life. You'll then continue to Huay Xai, enjoying a buffet lunch on board, arriving in the late afternoon.
