From there you are driven to Kumai for a guided trip down the Kumai River where you board Coral Discoverer and join the captain for welcome drinks on deck.
Jump straight in and tour Tanjung Puting National Park, which is famous for orangutans and proboscis monkeys. You will be welcomed by people from the local Dayak tribe then board local Klotoks (river boats) for a trip to to Camp Leakey research station and rehabilitation centre to observe orangutans at meal time.
A full day at sea today as you leisurely cruise south towards Java and the 'Thousand Islands'. This is a good time to get to know the ship and visit the bridge and learn navigation techniques from the captain. You can also join the Expedition Team for informative presentations in preparation for all your activities over the coming days.
In the Bay of Jakarta in the Java Sea lie the 'Thousand Islands', in reality approximately 128 islands, perfect for a day of water-based activities. Go ashore and swim, snorkel, SCUBA dive or kayak from one of the lovely beaches and look out for the myriad tropical fish which live among the multi-coloured corals.
Wake up this morning to cruising the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra. Later travel ashore to the beach at Anak Krakatua (Child of Krakatua) and join the park ranger guides for a hike to the first summit of this still active caldera. Enjoy lunch on the beach and in the afternoon take part in free water activities.
Today you visit Labuhan Maringgai Beach and board local transport to Way Kambas National Park, known for its several critically endangered species, including the Sumatran elephant which you should be able to see with the help of a local park ranger. Visit the Elephant Conservation Centre and later enjoy a river cruise.
This morning you are treated to a welcome ceremony to Pulau Belitung at Rainbow Beach, Tanjung Tinggi. Here you can swim, snorkel or walk the pristine sands to view the 'painted boulders' and for spectacular views and photographs, climb the century-old lighthouse on nearby Pulau Lengkuas.
This afternoon, after a morning's cruising, arrive at Penuba, situated in the Lingga Islands group. Here you will be welcomed by the villagers and taken to see a traditional martial arts demonstration and get a taste for local island life. Tonight, back on board, enjoy the captain’s farewell drinks as you head towards Singapore.
Today your wonderful cruise comes to an end when the Coral Discoverer sails past the spectacular Singapore skyline in the morning light and among the many islands of the Singapore Strait. Say farewell to new found friends and possibly stay on for a few days in Singapore seeing all the famous sights before catching your flight back home.
