Livingstone & Kafue Safari

Description

No trip to Africa is complete without a visit to the spectacular Victoria Falls, or a safari. And on this short action packed tour you get to do both. Beginning at Livingstone, gateway to the Falls, you stay at a luxury resort from where you can see the spray and hear the thunder from the world's biggest curtain of falling water. After this memorable experience you fly on to a top notch safari lodge and enjoy a series of game drives seeing all the stunning wildlife.

Day 1
Arrive Livingstone

On arrival at Livingstone Airport you will be met and taken to the nearby Avani Victoria Falls Resort. Named after the famous explorer and with a long and colourful past, Livingstone still bears remnants of its colonial past when it was the capital of North Rhodesia and has plenty to keep the adrenaline pumping with white water rafting, bungee jumping and gorge swinging as well as helicopter and micro light flights over the Falls. The hotel is just minutes from the Falls and in the evening you enjoy a sunset cruise along the Zambezi River.

Day 2
Livingstone

Wake up to the sound of the majestic Victoria Falls before heading down to breakfast. Then you are taken on a guided tour to discover how they were formed and what customs and traditions surround them. Known locally as 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' - 'the Smoke that Thunders' - they are a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur. A path along the edge of the forest provides an unparalleled series of views and other vantage points include the Falls Bridge and Lookout Tree. Return to the hotel later and enjoy all the facilities.

Day 3
Livingstone to Kafue

After breakfast you are taken to the airport for a short flight to Lusaka where you are met and driven the four hours to Kaingu Safari Lodge - travelling by boat for the last few miles. This stunning section of the Kafue River with its myriad of channels and islands is simply breathtaking and a lovely way to arrive at the lodge, situated in the Namwala Game Management Area. The Kafue National Park is only a 10 minute boat trip away, offering magnificent game that you can enjoy viewing from comfortable open vehicles.

Day 4
Kafue

After an early wake up call leave for a morning game activity. Drive in the Kafue National Park with the prospect of viewing wildlife large and small, as well as the numerous habitats that make up this huge park. Return to camp for lunch with the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Then meet in the main lodge area for tea before taking a walk to Mpamba Rock for 360 degree views. Sip sundowners while watching a magical African sunset then return to camp for drinks around the fire and dinner on the deck under the stars.

Day 5
Kafue

Another morning game drive or if you prefer a sleep in and a late bush breakfast on one of the islands followed by a leisurely boat cruise for bird viewing or fishing. Return to camp for lunch with the remainder of the afternoon free. Meet again in the main lodge area for tea and cake before departing for an afternoon activity. Perhaps a leisurely stroll to the rapids for drinks as the sun sets behind the rock formations and the river. Then enjoy a lantern lit dinner by the river under the stars and a short drive back to the lodge.

Day 6
Kafue to Lusaka

Maybe a final early morning game drive before you are picked up at the lodge for the journey back to Lusaka where this memorable tour comes to an end. As well as experiencing and staying beside the mighty Victoria Falls, you have every chance of seeing some or all of the Big Five - lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant - while out on safari. This two centre break makes a great add on to any longer trip to Africa and will leave you with lots of great memories.

The booking was simple and flawless. We received updates at each and every stage till departure. All connections were problem free. The app is an excellent tool as it includes all aspects of our booking taking out need for printed paper. It was nice to know that support was only a phone call or email away if needed.

I cannot speak highly enough of DialAFlight. When we had issues with delays the night service responded immediately and rebooked flights in South Africa. It was great to know they were always there day and night. They planned a great itinerary, excellent venues and all personally visited and recommended. Brilliant.
