Meeting gorillas in their natural habitat is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and this five-day trip into the heart of Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest gives you the chance to do just that. Along the way you'll experience Uganda's beautiful countryside and unspoiled rainforest – it's a adventure you'll never forget.
Your tour begins as you're met at Entebbe airport and transferred to your hotel.
After an early breakfast, you'll drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The full-day drive offers some beautiful and fascinating sights along the way, as you pass through small villages and fertile countryside, where you'll see farmers tending their crops of millet, sorghum, beans and maize. At Kyanjojo, in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains (Mountains of the Moon), you'll drive through a sea of green tea plantations. On arrival at Bwindi you'll check in and have a chance to freshen up before dinner.
After breakfast this morning, you'll be driven to the headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to begin your gorilla-trekking experience. The experienced guides will lead you to the site where they encountered the gorillas the day before, and from here you'll begin tracking. The gorillas move around from day to day in search of food, so the length of your hike today will depend on how far they've travelled, although you can generally expect it to take between one and six hours. It can be tough going, but the surroundings are truly spectacular, and you'll soon forget your tiredness when you encounter a wild gorilla family in its natural habitat – considered by many to be the ultimate natural history experience. You will return to your camp in the late afternoon, with time to relax before dinner.
After breakfast this morning you will be driven back to Entebbe, arriving back at your hotel in the evening.
Your adventure comes to an end after breakfast today as you're transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
