Kruger & Canyon Tour

Description

This short South African tour begins in vibrant Johannesburg, where you'll have the chance to explore the city's history, as a hub of resistance against the apartheid regime, as well as soaking up the buzzing atmosphere of its recent revival. From here you'll travel along the truly spectacular Panorama Route, taking in some of the country's most memorable views, before ending with a three-day safari in the tranquil Manyeleti Reserve.

Day 1
Arrive Johannesburg

Your tour begins as you're met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, where you'll have a chance to settle in before this afternoon's city tour. You'll explore the area around City Hall, Newtown Cultural Precinct and Maboneng Precinct, the scene of this booming city's recent revival. You'll visit the Ghandi Memorial to see how art is being used to revitalise the inner city, and enjoy the bird's-eye views from the top of the Carlton Centre.

Day 2
Soweto

This morning you'll enjoy a half-day tour of Soweto, the cluster of townships synonymous with the struggle against the apartheid regime. After touring some of the key historical sites you'll enjoy lunch at a township tavern before spending the afternoon exploring the excellent Apartheid Museum.

Day 3
Mpumalanga

This morning you'll depart Johannesburg for Mpumalanga, on South Africa's eastern border (its name means "Land of the Rising Sun"). You'll travel via the spectacular and aptly-named Panorama Route and, time and weather permitting, will stop at God's Window to enjoy the unforgettable views, believed by many to be South Africa's finest. You'll arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon, with time to check in and freshen up before dinner.

Day 4
Safari Camp

This morning you'll transfer to the Manyeleti Reserve, which borders the Kruger National Park, for an authentic African bush stay. Here you'll be able to enjoy both morning and evening game drives, during which you can expect to see all the safari Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhinoceros) as well as spectacular birdlife. At the camp itself you'll enjoy comfortable accommodation, with excellent service and food. (The tour will use Modlito Safari Lodge from the 1st of January 2018 onwards)

Day 5
Safari Camp

Today you'll enjoy a second day of morning and evening game drives in this awe-inspiring environment.

Day 6
Depart Safari Camp

This morning you'll enjoy your final game drive before breakfast and your transfer to Hoedspruit Airport, where your tour ends.
